Minute Memo #204 - New Darkness Over Europe
Happy Thanksgiving to all you Americans as we celebrate a peaceful Thanksgiving Day.
Thank God we can rest relatively assured of a day of peace today in the United States, despite a video threat issued by ISIS that Washington, D.C. is the next target. But in Europe, an old feeling of darkness is descending in a way that has not been seen since World War II.
Jews in Brussels, Belgium are afraid to go out on the streets for the first time since World War II.
According to Rabbi Avraham Gigi, speaking on Islaeli radio station 103 FM.
“There is a sense of fear in the streets…. Jews now pray in their homes [as opposed to at synagogues] and some of them are planning on emigrating.”
“… Synagogues [were] closed, something which has not happened since World War II.”
Rabbi Gigi said that Jews are emigrating to Israel, Canada, and the U.S.
“People understand there is no future for Jews in Europe.”
I’m Still reporting from Washington.
