2019-07-13 40th Street Summer Series: Featuring Netos de Kansala
The 40th Street Summer Series is a beloved concert and dance series that happens once a month, May through September (though shortened to June-August this year). These events are promoted heavily by University City District and Penn. https://www.universitycity.org/40th-street-summer-series.
"Voices Of Africa" was the headliners of this event in company with Netos de Kansala and Tyehimba/Camara Arts.
This musical selection is two dances performed by Netos de Kansala directed by Anssumane Silla, from Guinea Bissau.

VOA as an organization , has been around some 25 years. We have traveled the continental expanse of the USA; appeared in Canada, Jamaica, London, Hawaii, and Ghana. VOA started out as a children's ensemble. VOA has now become an "African Cultural Arts Collective" that works with a variety of committed African Cultural Artist from around the Diaspora. Many of these artists are actively involved in the arts through dance, singing or drumming and lend their time to VOA to give it the professionalism, style and power that comes from well seasoned artists in the field. VOA is exploring its expansion and enjoying the new faces; the new energy; the new excitement and has over the past year been demonstrating this to our audiences nationwide. And while we are not primarily an All Women's Ensemble anymore, we are able to gather up enough women to do a presentation when that is requested. VOA shares the power and joy of its music, which spans the African Diaspora, through traditional African and African American songs, message music, gospel, inspirational and healing percussion rhythms.

The topic of Today's video is "We're In A Simulated Hunger Game, Why Is That Okay?"
After viewing some comments about the double standard allotted to the so-called elite and that which we are being downright berated into doing, I have to ask some more questions about this whole thing. Again, if the virus is so deadly and people are dropping like flies, and it is so contagious that just breathing the same air may have you succumb to this deadly virus and never recover, how is it that folks can gather en masse at the Congressman John Lewis' funeral? To be fair, there were several folks wearing masks, even the pall bearers, but seriously, we have been told we cannot gather together outside of our own homes in groups larger than 10 and yet the Ebenezer Baptist Church was filled to capacity.
Does this not remind you of the movie Hunger games, where the elite made all the rules for the masses and had an entirely different set of rules for themselves? Why is this okay? Do they have some kind of agenda where they are trying to get the masses angry as hell so they won't take it no more, or are they just plain mocking us?

I say to them.

Greetings, Peace and blessings to you, your family and loved ones. My name is Nana Baakan and today I wish to share with you the I Ching Oracle reading I received on March 25, 2020 concerning the Coronavirus aka Covid-19.
As is my usual practice, that when there is something so confusing, so distorted, with so many varying opinions on what is going on, I resort to consulting the I Ching, (Yi Jing) for a better insight into what is really going on. I have trusted and continue to trust the wisdom of the Yi. It has a sobering effect on issues that may seem to be overwhelming to us and gives us guidance on how to stay centered and in the middle, avoiding extremes.
The questions I asked may appear even more cryptic than the Oracle itself at times, but, we must remember that there is science to asking the Yi Jing questions. You must first approach it with an open mind and willingness to allow it to give you guidance. Therefore I take great pains in making my questions as free of bias as possible. Otherwise the Oracle will respond to your bias and that can often be confusing.
I have been working and studying the Yi Jing for over 30 years now, I have seen it unfold in many situations as I have worked with hundreds of people along the way.
I also offer tutorial sessions and online workshops for those who may be interested.
