Blood & Magic is a real-time strategy video game released by Interplay Productions in 1996 which uses the Dungeons & Dragons license and is set in a previously uncharted area of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting called the Utter East. Blood & Magic revolves around the powerful magic of the Blood Forges, ancient magical items with the power to create vast armies of loyal followers for their users. Players use their Blood Forge to create Basal Golems, which can either generate mystical energy to power the forge, explore the land and fight, or be transformed into a number of more powerful units. The game features five pre-generated campaigns of three missions each, or the option to play a random campaign over all 15 maps. Blood & Magic's single player game consists of five regular campaigns of increasing difficulty, followed by a world conquest (a long campaign during which the player conquers all 15 maps and then challenges the gods themselves). In all regular campaigns the player can choose one of two sides of conflict. To unlock the next campaign, the player has to finish the current campaign at least once. The storylines of all campaigns are typical fantasy tales (without any explicit AD&D references), although each campaign has its own take on the genre. The stories are told between battles by a narrator voice (often in verse) and illustrated by gradually uncovered pictures. Like my content? System Shock is a first-person action-adventure video game originally developed by LookingGlass Technologies and published by Origin Systems in 1994. A remake was developed by Nightdive Studios and released in 2023. System Shock was directed by Doug Church with Warren Spector serving as producer. System Shock takes place from a first-person perspective in a three-dimensional graphical environment. System Shock is set inside a large, multi-level space station, in which players explore, combat enemies and solve puzzles. Progress is largely non-linear, and the game is designed to allow for emergent gameplay. View and posture controls allow the player to lean left or right, look up or down, crouch, and crawl. Practical uses for these actions include taking cover, retrieving items from beneath the player character and navigating small passages, respectively. System Shock is set in the year 2072. The protagonist — a nameless hacker — is caught while attempting to access files concerning Citadel Station, a space station owned by the TriOptimum Corporation. The hacker is taken to Citadel Station and brought before Edward Diego, a TriOptimum executive. Diego offers to drop all charges against the hacker in exchange for a confidential hacking of SHODAN, the artificial intelligence that controls the station. Diego secretly plans to steal an experimental mutagenic virus being tested on Citadel Station and to sell it on the black market as a biological weapon. To entice cooperation, Diego promises the hacker a valuable military-grade neural implant. After hacking SHODAN, removing the AI's ethical constraints, and handing control over to Diego, the protagonist undergoes surgery to implant the promised neural interface. Following the operation, the hacker is put into a six-month healing coma. The game begins as the protagonist awakens from his coma and finds that SHODAN has commandeered the station. Like my content?
