3M Auto Boot Camp New Product Update - Hookit Hard E-Coat Disc 30695
http://CollisionBlast.com - 3M Auto Boot Camp New Product Update - Hookit Card E-Coat Disc 30695 - Donnie Smith here, in this video I'm going to show you a new 3M product. I recently returned from 3M headquarters from their 3M auto boot camp. While there I had the opportunity to learn about many of their new automotive products. This video is specifically about a new sandpaper. E-coat is becoming very difficult to sand, as they it is a much harder product. Therefore, regular sandpaper is wearing out before properly scuffing the panel. If not properly scuffed, could lead to paint failure resulting in peeling coatings. Introducing 3M hard E-coat discs. This is a new products designed specifically to sand these difficult hard surfaces. The new sandpaper will not give out as the older sandpaper. What was taking you 6-8 disks can now be done with one on E-coats and ceramic clears. If you are having troubles with this I encourage you to check this out.

http://CollisionBlast.com - - Learn why some dents are harder to repair than other dents.
Dents in areas, such as body lines are work hardened and are going to be more difficult to repair. Therefore, more time should be allowed to repair a dent when damaged on a body line.
Metal that becomes work hardened also becomes brittle and care should be taken not to crack or tear the metal.

http://CollisionBlast.com - Spray overlap is one of the techniques that needs to be mastered to become a better painter. Incorrect overlap can result in too little mill coverage and stripes. In the video, we talk about what overlap is and how to perform proper overlap.
Depending on the paint recommendations, 50% to 75%. Control coats may even recommend up to 90% overlap, but that is for another lesson.
It is also important to start by overlapping each panel edges. For example, half of the spray pattern on the panel and half spraying onto the masking paper. This will assure proper overlap and mill coverage on edges.
