This is a 4 hour GPS track taken with an igotu GPS tracker sitting on my window ledge. Basically just showing the sort of min/max error ranges you get with a standard GPS signal.

Firstly I have had (US based?) based fliers moan this is illegal. It is not. Perhaps you don't realise that the UK has it's own laws ? news: we are actually a different country - get over it.
Perhaps it is not allowed in your country. However, it is a perfectly legal flight under UK ANO. And as it was in the UK, those are the laws that matter.
Model is 1.2kg (under 7kg).
-more than 130m from built up area (though video looks towards it it is horizontally 200m from built up area)
-more than 30m from person on ground at take off and landing
-flown with line of sight (not FPV) - the video is from gopro with gpx trace added later (obviously - it is HD FFS)
-good weather conditions, no other air traffic
- precautions taken (tested safe mode to cut power and to fly home if tx lost - both also manually trigger able)
-3rd party liability insurance.
MegapirateNG on a Crius V1.1 board with GPS. Cheap DJI F450 clone frame, Hobbyking 20a ESCs and 2216 920kv motors. 8x4.5 props. It's flying here with 2x4s 2200 lipo packs and a go pro. total weight 1300 grams. I continued to fly afterwards with same pack for a further 15 minutes.

From the town of Oban, south west around the island of Kerrera, then down to Seil - where they have what was the only bridge over the atlantic (they say) until the Skye Bridge was built.

50 mile cross country out and along the North Sea and some rivers in the South East of England. With a bonus competition:
Listen to the question somewhere during the video. If you think you know (or can find out!) the answer, put it in the comments. At the end of June, I'll collect everyone who has the right answer, put them in a hat and pull out a winner. Winner gets a nearly unique 'The Flying Scotsman' paramotor cap. As not seen on TV and in the shops.
Competition open to UK people only - since I need to post the cap to you. If you win and then tell me an address outside the UK, I'll just draw from the hat again until I get a UK person, so please - no folk outside of UK for this comp.
Don't worry - if this competition is a success I'll do more, and will extend them to rest of the world, but for the first one, I just want to keep it simple. Thanks for understanding :-)

Nice sunny Feb day - hottest since records began in UK.
So I thought I'd try the 2 new gimbals I've been setting up. I've spent several weeks configuring them and testing them with bicycle, car,etc - but this is the first flight test.
Both are Basecam/Alexmos 32 bit based gimbals. One is the CAME-TV the other is the SteadyX.
I think the came-tv came out best mainly because I configured the motors with more power than the steadyX. Also since the came-tv is 12v vs steadyX 8v, lower currents for same power makes it easier to configure motors with more torque.
I think I can probably get the steadyX better, but it lost it completely twice - one before take off (requiring me to cycle power), and once after going to full power at alti and then coming off - it sort of ending up pointing at the wing - and again needed power cycling.
the Came-tv definitely seemed to angle more into turns, but it did always recover, and never went mental like the steadyX.
So - I think the came-tv will be my gimbal of choice from now on.
