Sup guys, it's Luke. Just /comfy/ here in the unaboomer compound watching the world end via the internet. In this video, I'll make a little statusbar module for watching Corona-chan's advance across the world. That's right, epidemiology in the terminal!
In the time since I recorded this video, they've added ANSI color codes to the output of the curl command. Because of that, you now have to remove them to show up in some statusbards like dwmblocks, which can be done by piping it through this command: sed 's/\x1b\[[0-9;]*m//g'

We're reaching levels of schway that shouldn't even be possible.
The song is originally from the final boss battle in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I remixed the three different tracks, having them fade in and out and build up.
Might put up a loop later, just because I know people like listening to that stuff.

When undo and redo are not enough, we literally time travel in vim---but I also do some other things in the meantime, like universal substitute commands, dot commands and global regex matching for particular commands. All IDE-cux are on sewer-slide watch now and will be posting cope in the comments.

I was working on my qualifying paper (prelim) for my PhD over the weekend, and recorded it for my own benefit. Posting it here because why tf not?
Again, the paper is an Optimality Theoretic, phonologically-driven account of word order/syntactic differences in different languages.
Recorded, sped up by 40x and spliced together by ffmpeg.

I show you how to setup an encrypted USB drive with a LUKS partition and cryptsetup. I wrote a script to automatically decrypt and mount drives on the fly too which does this automatically. Get it here:
`mounter`. For mounting drives (encrypted, normal and Android phones):
https://github.com/LukeSmithxyz/voidrice/blob/master/.local/bin/mounter
`unmounter`. For unmounting. Also closing decryption of drives for safety:
https://github.com/LukeSmithxyz/voidrice/blob/master/.local/bin/unmounter
Might do more on drive encryption, including full disk encryption later.

Stop distro-hopping!
Some advice to newer Linux users: don't sweat trying using "the best" distro. Experiment with other distros on your own time.
Don't switch because you expect a universally different or better experience.

Soon I'll be doing a video on my qutebrowser setup, which I happen to like; probably next week.

Here I review the laptop I've been using for around a year: the Thinkpad X200.
It's my favorite machine for a couple reasons: easily compatible with all free software, like other Thinkpads, easily repairable and customizable and is still compact and portable.
All for only around $100; and I expect it to last quite some more time.
Info about what I have in my machine:
*Ol' fashioned Intel core duo
*Half TB SSD (for Sanic-fast speeds)
*8GB of RAM
