matt sokol - like ants, like machine (GTR17) / [math rock]
About time I got back to some guitar videos... Here's a math idea I'm working on, goes back and forth between riffy odd-time and polyrhythmic 4s. I tried to throw some tonal variation in there too - not easy!
Gonna be doing a bunch of guitar for the next few weeks, since I won't have my drums set up until October from the looks of it. I'm feeling a math rock spree coming on.

The internet was supposed to save the music industry. Instead, it destroyed it. Will blockchain be any different? This article goes in-depth on the four most prominent music distribution platforms in the blockchain space.
going deeper into Logic Pro X's built in drum machines. just looking at all the preset kits shows me I've barely scratched the surface. got pretty aggro with this beat.
I'm starting to understand why aphex/squarepusher/etc are so obsessed with gear. there's so much depth to just this one machine, I can't imagine how it feels to have several of them.
Hello pals :-)
This week I wanted to really stretch out into the gnarliest math / prog mode. I was thinking about all that old Zach Hill / Vince Rogers (Tera Melos) drum shit, started out with the drum groove, then a whole song emerged.
What is cool is that it ended up being a catchy kinda thing - the vocals brought it all together.
Stay tuned to the end for a total drum freakout if that's your bag.
cheers!
This is an original song and performance, originally created for Steemit Open Mic Week 35. Last week's splitscreen video was fun, and I wanted to try a fully composed song in that style this week.
The end result - pretty cool! I think the next step is to try and expand on the visual aspect. I want to take it from "amateurish but fun" to "damn that looks sick".
Stay tuned for week 36 :-)
