South Koreas Education system, is it all that it's cracked up to be?
Please watch: "Waterfront Restaurants and Nightmarket Kota Kinabalu - 워터 프론트 레스토랑 및 야시장 코타 키나발루" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhBuq1oPShU --~-- South Korea has a reputation for its rigorous education system. The country's high achievers have been ranked among the top three of worlds countries with the best academic performance. But while South Korean students spend countless hours cooped up in their respective educational institutes, aiming to attain those high results, countries like Finland are introducing educational systems in which grading and testing are made obsolete. Yet Finland is often seen as one of the top ranking countries in educational student performance.
South Korean students seem to pay a price for the need of high achievement imposed by the country's figures of authority, and there is really very little the students themselves can do to change things. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJWc8gRbfxk

Ulsan Upsquare and New Shane English School (2019)
I have never been to Upsquare, although I have heard people refer to it many times in the past. I always assumed this was the name of a certain area in the Samsandong district, specifically the shopping part of the new downtown. Turns out I was only slightly of on my guess.
I also took a look at the finished New Shane English School, which is looking very nice. I particularly like the Shane logo the school director has placed at the entrance.
All in all a good day shopping and a good day visiting.

About me:
I am an Expat with close to a decade and a half of ESL experience. I am the Franchising Director for Shane English Korea based out of Uslan, South Korea and know a thing or two about starting and operating an ESL business. I have also lived in South Korea since 2005, and although far from an authority figure on the cultural intricacies of the South Korea culture, I have some basic understanding of why things are the way they are, which I hope to share with those willing to liste. In this podcast I share some of my ideas and knowledge with a wider audience and also hope to learn new things along the way. I hope to provide our viewers with insighlts on how to start a Hagwon in South Korea, discuss some pitfalls and success stories, and bring an overall awareness to the beginning and running of innovative companies.
The most recent focus of the podcast has been on interviewing expats who reside in South Kroea and spend their livelihood doing things beyond teaching. With that I hope to bring some insight into the possibilities open to expats living and working in South Korea, beyond teaching.
Over the past 131 episodes, I have had the pleasure of sitting down with some pretty interesting individuals and I hope to continue this for the foreseable future.

Bobsledding Ulsan South Korea just outside of Ulsan in, is one of two places where you can get out into the swing of winter fun around Ulsan.
While the winter olympics 2018 came and went, most of South Korea outside of the northern regions haven't seen much snow. A short drive outside of Ulsan allows you to get out of the city and spent some time sledding with your the children, which can be a lot of fun and an activity that otherwise cannot be pursued in these parts of the country due to a virtually non existent snow fall.
