Udaipur is known as the City of the Lakes, and it's beautiful. The palaces are Rajasthan Royalty at its finest. We were lucky enough to be in Udaipur during Deepavali or Diwali. It was such a special experience to see how the Indian people celebrate Diwali. They decorate the house with Indian ethnic decorations and lamps (Diya) and fairy lights, have beautiful dry powder patterns outside their doors, insane fireworks, eat lots of sweets, exchange gifts. They also wear new clothes, so Graeme and I tried dressing up in traditional Indian clothing and tried to drape a saree for the first time. Graeme wanted to channel his inner Maharajah and wanted to wear a traditional Rajputi safa.
