You don’t just use it to describe your possessions, but also to discuss states of being, such as hunger.
Fun fact: in Spanish, the way you say “I’m hungry” is actually “I have hunger,” or “Tengo hambre.”
In this video, you’ll learn the different conjugations of tener in the present, past, and future tense. For starters, here is just one tener conjugation, in the present tense:
-Yo tengo (I have)
-Tú tienes (You have)
-Usted tiene (You have - formal)
-Él o ella tiene (He or she has)
-Nosotros tenemos (We have)
-Ustedes tienen (You all have)
-Ellos o ellas tienen (They have - masculine/feminine)
Did you know there are multiple past tense forms of tener? Our expert instructor Cindy will cover both, known as the preterite and the imperfect, in this helpful Spanish lesson!
