During the time of the discovery of America (https://www.cglearn.it/mysite/civilization/american-culture/the-discovery-of-america/) and the conquest of Colombia by the Spanish Empire in the fifteenth century (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conquista_de_Colombia) there were many indigenous groups in different regions of Colombia. Each of the indigenous groups in Colombia (https://www.colombia.co/en/colombia-country/colombia-facts/colombias-indigenous-groups/) had a different culture because of the geography of Colombia, they were located very far from each other and with high mountains in between.
When the Spanish began to conquer the land in 1499, they fight and killed many inhabitants of the region, so many indigenous communities became extinct. Several indigenous communities in Colombia have eventually become westernized and others have not yet had contact with the western world. This happens due the places where they are located, which were inaccessible to the Spanish and even today are difficult to access.
Thanks to this diversity of indigenous communities and their locations, in Colombia there are many languages and dialects.
The ethnic diversity in Colombia is also due to the mixture of the indigenous race, the African American race that arrived in Colombia during the time of the conquest and the Spanish race. This is why today many of the inhabitants of Colombia are considered "mestizos", which means a mixture of races.
Currently in Colombia it is considered that there are 90 indigenous groups (https://www.todacolombia.com/etnias-de-colombia/groups-indigenas/pueblos.html) and 68 different languages and dialects (http://www.mincultura.gov.co/areas/poblaciones/APP-de-lenguas-nativas/Paginas/default.aspx).

I drove to Casanare https://www.casanare.gov.co and Meta https://www.meta.gov.co/web/content/nuestro-departamento, two departments that are part of the Llanos https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Llanos_(South_America). This region is known as the Cowboy Land of Colombia where you find Colombian wildlife. It limits with Venezuela to the east. Its culture focuses on the raising of cattle, that's why its music carries with a wide tradition of harp and cowboy life. In this area you will find unique tourist attractions that are nowhere else in the world, as Caño Cristales, also known as the Rainbow River, habitat of pink dolphins; the Bio-park Los Ocarros, and the Natural National Park El Tuparro. Because of its rugged air, it is largely undiscovered by tourists and is thus one of my favorite places to visit. You can arrive to Llanos Orientales by car thanks to the Vía Llanos or by plane arriving to Villavicencio's https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=villavicencio+alcaldia&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 or Yopal's https://yopalcasanare.micolombiadigital.gov.co airport. If you like horse riding, animals, and have always wanted to live the cowboy life, the Colombian Llanos is the place for you. And don't miss out the Colombia safari! We visited the natural reserve El Encanto de Guanapalo https://elencantodeguanapalo.com with its Hato Matepalma. We then arrived to Lagos de Manegua https://www.lagosdemenegua.com/es and then to the the Finca Hotel Mururito Reserva Natural https://www.fincahotel-llanos.com/, which is absolutely spectacular!

Santa Marta Colombia is not only the oldest cities in the country but also one of the oldest in South América. It has a privileged location along the shore of the Caribbean Sea, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. When deciding where to go in Santa Marta, you should be aware of the range in climate, mild-hot and dry-humid. You will al find a permanent layer of snow on the peaks of the mountain range. The region was once home to the Millenarian Tayrona Indigenous group and nowadays houses Tayrona National Natural Park. You can reach Santa Marta by plane from Bogotá in an hour and a half trip, although it's possible to access by land thanks to the road Troncal del Caribe or Troncal del Magdalena.
The region is considered one of the most beautiful bays in Latin America. In deciding what to do in Santa Marta, many of your options will center around the region’s incredible jungle landscape. These jungles are full of mangroves, corals, beaches and untouched nature that offer a peaceful and spiritual environment. We traveled to the Lost City, or the Ciudad Perdida, and found some incredible views that made for scenic rests.
