Dan Wesson 715 Review: .357/.38 Revolver New For 2015
2015-production DW 715 stainless steel revolver chambered for .357 Magnum / .38 Special. Is it as good as the old Dan Wessons?
Great to see Dan Wesson, which is now owned by CZ-USA, making wheel guns again! They have a few other models planned after the 715, too. The best news might be that the swappable barrels from previous generations of DW revolvers fit on the new frames!
DoubleTap uses very unique, proprietary nuts to hold this gun together. It is NOT designed to be user-serviceable, so don't take it apart. This video shows you the most obvious reason why. And... it shows you how to field strip the Tactical Pocket Pistol for the general cleaning and maintenance that you can do yourself.
I will admit that I removed all of the screws from my DoubleTap and tried to take it apart. However, the two halves of the clamshell were still held to each other fairly tightly. I'm not sure why. Something inside? A couple dabs of epoxy or locktite? I pried on it a bit but did not want to force it and did not want to risk inner parts becoming jumbled and having to figure it all out myself. The gun is too expensive and pristine to really mess with. However, if you want to send me yours I'll definitely pop it in half and do a video of its guts :-)
SO... in this video I'm recommending what DoubleTap says very clearly in the owner's manual, which is DO NOT TAKE YOUR GUN APART. There is nothing user-serviceable inside of the Tactical Pocket Pistol (derringer).
No longer the Heizer Defense DoubleTap, by the way, since production was moved to a different company. The brand is now DoubleTap Defense and the gun is called the "Tactical Pocket Pistol." Is it a pocket pistol? YES. Is it tactical? Um... no. Two bullets is not "tactical." Sorry.
Quality is very nice. Machining, anodizing, etc is all very high quality. Fit & finish is top notch. VERY thin, light gun. ...but I'll do a review in another video...

Tabletop & shooting review of Diamondback's new, full-sized pistol, the DB FS NINE. We put 600 rounds down range.
Full write-up on TheTruthAboutGuns.com (TTAG) here: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/04/jeremy-s/gun-review-diamondback-db-fs-nine
Summary: For $365 to $400, the DBFS9 is a screaming deal! I had a couple feeding issues here and there, which may be related to the quality of the magazine or the fact that I got it really dirty then wet, but when the mag was clean the gun ran great for me. It was really pleasant to shoot with soft recoil and little muzzle flip, great control, fast sights, solid accuracy, and a trigger that is on-par with Glock's. Nice looks and a bargain price means I'm fairly bullish on the DB FS 9. Certainly much more so than the DB380 or DB9! If other examples of the gun run like mine did, I think Diamondback has a hit on its hands!
Big thanks to Kentucky Gun Co (www.kygunco.com) for loaning me the DB for testing!!! Many people completely disbelieve the fact that this is not only possible, but actually works just fine. Hopefully this video proves that you CAN shoot .40 S&W through a completely and totally unmodified Glock, including using the factory 10mm magazines. I do this with my Gen3 Glock 20SF and I do it at the end of the video with my Gen4 Glock 29.

FOR A FULL TECHNICAL EXPLANATION OF WHY THIS IS SAFE, AND WHY THE DOUBTERS ARE WRONG, PLEASE READ MY POST HERE: http://calguns.net/calgunforum/showpost.php?s=9b5e1976e1fc4f857cc32f1e2ee51d91&p=12923947&postcount=20
.40 Smith & Wesson (some say S&W stands for "Short & Weak," but they're just 10mm snobs) was designed out of the 10mm cartridge. The FBI wanted something with less recoil. .40 S&W is 100% exactly identical in every single way to 10mm except that the brass case is shorter. Same bullets, usually the same type of gunpowder, same case diameter and rim, same primer, etc. Because the case is shorter, .40 S&W also holds less powder, which is what makes it a weaker round with less recoil than 10mm.
It feeds, fires, and ejects from a 10mm Glock because the power level is at the very bottom of the range -- but within the range -- of power needed to cycle the action reliably. Even though the case does not headspace against the front of the chamber, the case remains held against the breech face by the extractor.
Negatives: 1) not as accurate as using a .40-specific barrel. This is because the bullet doesn't contact the rifling when the round is chambered and therefore it has a better chance of not being centered and aligned perfectly. 2) you'll want to clean out your chamber sooner. Since the front part of the chamber is now exposed to the combustion process, whereas it's better sealed w/ the 10mm, it'll get dirtier.
I would NOT trust this in a defensive gun. There is a chance that the round could pop out of the extractor and end up too far in the chamber, and it would not fire. More likely, however, is that it doesn't eject fully and you get a stovepipe or double-feed, etc. That said, I've shot a couple hundred rounds of .40 through my 10mm Glocks with the barrel and spring combos that you see in this video, and have not had even one single failure of any sort whatsoever. But I would not depend on it when it really counted. You absolutely can purchase a .40 caliber barrel for installing in a 10mm Glock (or any number of other caliber/gun conversion barrels, of course). The proper barrel and a lighter recoil spring to better match the .40 ammo would be ideal if you really want to shoot primarily .40 S&W but you want to do it out of a different Glock.
I think that's about it! Thanks for watching. Support the channel, get free stuff, join live str

My GEN3 GLOCK 20 SF exploded while doing some IIIA body armor testing. After investigating it as thoroughly as possible, it does appear to have been ammo-caused. Could have been an overcharged round, could have been a loose bullet that got shoved down into the case when chambered [EDIT: Underwood examined the ammo and this is exactly what happened!], etc., but it was almost certainly something that was "off" with the ammo. That said, I still have great respect for *and* trust in Underwood Ammo. I've shot hundreds of their rounds, including through this very gun, and have had zero issues whatsoever. They have an extremely good reputation, and for good reason. In fact, this may be the first ammo-caused problem I've heard of with somebody shooting Underwood. Not only that, but their customer service was *GREAT* and they stood behind this and are replacing everything that was damaged. They made the process very easy and were responsive, gracious, and apologetic. Additionally, this sort of incident has happened with every major ammo manufacturer...Winchester, Federal, Remington, PMC, etc etc etc...if you make enough ammo a couple bum rounds are going to get out there. It's an inherent risk we all take as shooters. What with holding a little explosion in our hands and all. Mechanical devices fail. I will continue to shoot Underwood and feel confident in it. I may just shoot with gloves more often haha

Nearly impossible to capture this, and it's *WAY* louder and more noticeable in real life w/ noise and feel transmitting through your cheek bones, but the reduction in sproingy, rattling, twangy, scratchy, toy-like noise and feel with the JP SCS compared to a standard recoil buffer + spring system is *HUGE*! In this video, you can just barely here the sound of the standard spring rattling and vibrating, whereas the JP is silent (the video probably captures 10% of the real difference between them). It's also SOOOO much smoother feeling, both when firing and just when manually racking the charging handle, etc. Well worth the price of admission!
I have a 9mm one, which is used in the video, as well as a standard AR-15 one that has multiple thousands of rounds through it now. Once you try them, they're hard to live without!
