A SCARY STORY ABOUT WOMEN'S FITNA (TEMPTATION) One of the fitnahs (temptations) with which we are tested is the fitnah of women, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I have not left behind me any fitnah (temptation) more harmful to men than women.” There follow some of the methods by which we can avoid this temptation. We ask Allaah to set the affairs of the Muslims straight.
1 – Faith in Allaah.
Faith in Allaah and fear of Allaah provide a safety valve and protect a person against committing haraam actions and following his own whims and desires.
If the believer becomes aware that Allaah is always watching and if he ponders the meanings of His names and attributes, such as the All-Knowing, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, the Watchful, the Reckoner, the Preserver, the All-Encompassing, that will generate fear of Him in secret and in public, and will put a stop to disobedience towards Allaah, and will reduce the strength of desire that leads many people to commit haraam actions.
2 – Lowering the gaze and avoiding looking at haraam things
The gaze can generate bad thoughts in the heart, which then lead to ideas and then to desires, then to will and resolve, and then inevitably to doing haraam things. Think about the meaning of this verse which makes a connection between the first steps towards haraam and the end result. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts). That is purer for them. Verily, Allaah is All-Aware of what they do”
[al-Noor 24:30]
Ibn Katheer said: “This is a command from Allaah to His believing slaves, to lower their gaze and avoid looking at that which is forbidden to them so that they only look at that which they are permitted to look at. If it so happens that a person’s gaze accidentally falls upon something haraam, he should turn his gaze away from it quickly.
3 – Warding off evil thoughts
Bad thoughts pose a danger to the heart… If a person dwells on them and does not push them away, they will develop into an idea, then into will and resolve, then this will inevitably lead to haraam actions. Beware of dwelling on passing thoughts; rather what you must do is to ward them off and crowd them out with good thoughts.
The treatment, then, is to ward off these passing thoughts and keep yourself busy with beneficial thoughts.
4 – Marriage
It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “O young men, whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, and whoever cannot, let him fast, for it will be a shield for him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5065.

What Have You Prepared For That Day. Allaah says in the Qur’aan: “Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception.” (al-‘Imraan, 185)
Can you imagine the moment of the Day of Judgement when Allah Himself will come with the angels, and Paradise and Hell will be brought forward? And your Lord comes with the angels in rows. [Quran, 89:22]
You know that you will soon stand before Him, personally, one by one, to be judged. People are divided into two categories: 1). people with bright faces, due to their happiness, standing there looking at their Lord, and 2). people with darkened faces, due to their bad deeds. [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, looking at their Lord. And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. [Quran, 75:22-25]
Start thinking about yourself standing there . . .
If you get your book (of deeds) in your right hand, you will go to Paradise, and may Allah make us one of them. If you receive your book in your left hand you will go to the Hellfire; may Allah save us.
Apart from your book of deeds there will be more witnesses for you on the day. Let’s learn a preparation lesson from each of them, inshaa’Allah!
1. Add good things to the book of your deeds.
Allah ‘azza wa jall continues in surah Al-Kahf, the surah which is a sunnah to read on Friday, the day the Resurrection will occur: And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, “Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?” And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does injustice to no one. [Quran 18:49]
The Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam said: The first thing the people will be accountable for on the Day of Judgment is prayer, Allah will say to His angels : ‘Look at my servants prayers. Were they complete or not?’ If they were complete it will be written as complete. If they were not fully complete Allah will say: ‘See if my servant has voluntary prayers, if he has them Allah will say: Complete his obligatory prayers shortage with his voluntary prayers.’ Then the rest of his deeds will be dealt with in the same manner. [Ahmad, Abu Dawood, An-Nasaa’i, Al-Haakim]
Action: Make it your priority to pray your five daily prayers on time and learn to understand whatever you recite in them to increase your khushoo. Remember this hadith and let it motivate you to do those extra sunnah prayers.

A Message To The Oppressors In Muslim Countries | Sheikh Abdul Hamid Kishk (RH) Islam recognises that dictatorship and corruption is entirely possible in human societies, and thus, Islam adopted a robust stance against this issue. Let us examine the Islamic textual and philosophical position. There are an abundant number of ayat and ahadith which address those in positions of authority against abuse of power. Allah سبحانه وتعالى said,
فَاحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِالْقِسْطِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّـهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ
“And if you judge, judge with justice between them. Verily, Allah loves those who act justly.”
(Al-Maaida, 5:42)
and
إِنَّ اللَّـهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ
“Verily, Allah enjoins Al-Adl (i.e. justice)…”
(An-Nahl, 16:90)
In the above two ayat, Allah سبحانه وتعالى the creator of man orders the rulers to establish justice and refrain from ruling unjustly. Similarly, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم had very stern warnings against any ruler who contemplates abusing his power and authority.
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said,
ما من عبدٍ يسترعيه الله رعية، يموت يوم يموت، وهو غاش لرعيته إلا حرّم الله عليه الجنة
“There is no governor (wali) who takes charge of governing the Muslims, and then dies, and he had been cheating them, except that Allah prohibits him from Paradise.”[7] (Bukhari/Muslim)
The above hadith warns a ruler who engaged in corruption or embezzlement whilst in public office that he will be prevented from entering Jannah, which is a very stern warning. In another hadith, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said
مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يُؤَمَّرُ عَلَى عَشَرَةٍ فَصَاعِدًا، لا يُقْسِطُ فِيهِمْ، إِلا جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِي الأَصْفَادِ وَالأَغْلالِ
“No one who is placed in leadership over 10 or more, then does not act justly between them, except that on the Day of Judgement he is brought in shackles and chains.” (Hakim)

the-one-who-is-silent-about-the-truth-is
FOR THOSE WHO REMAIN SILENT AGAINST INJUSTICE.The Muslim should strive to speak the truth and be honest, and his words should be useful, whether they are about worldly matters or matters of the hereafter.
He should not speak too much about that which is of no benefit and serves no purpose, and he should avoid speaking on the basis of speculation or speaking of that of which he has no knowledge, because this is what it means to be truthful and honest. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, had instructed His believing slaves to be with those who are true (in word and deed), as He says (interpretation of the meaning): “O you who believe! Fear Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds)” [at-Tawbah 9:119].
Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
Be true and adhere to truthfulness and be with those who are true, and you will be saved from doom and be granted relief from hardship. End quote.
Tafseer Ibn Katheer (4/230)
This saying has become popular among people as a hadith. However, we could not find any information showing that this saying belongs to our Prophet (pbuh).
Qushayri states in his book Risale (p 62) that he heard this from Ustadh Abu Ali ad-Dakkak: “The one who does not tell the truth/remains silent against injustice is Satan.”, after quoting the saying “Just as speaking when it is needed is a good trait, so too is knowing to be quiet in time is a trait of virtuous people.”
Ibn Qayyim included these statements in his book al-Jawabul-Wafi (p 136):
“The one who advises people by saying superstitious/untrue things is a speaking Demon. The one who avoids telling the truth is a speechless Satan.”
The statement “The one who remain silent against injustice…” is more popular, though.
And a trustworthy person told me that Shaykh al-Islam, the leader of the
da’wah in Najd (Muhammad bin ‘Abd al-Wahhaab), once said:
“I saw some people sitting in the
mosque with their Qur’ans, reciting and weeping. However, they did not
enjoin the good if they saw it and they did not prevent evil if they saw
it. I saw people sitting near them saying: “These are the source of
benefit,” and I said: “These are the source of disgrace.” Someone heard
me and said: “I can not say they are a source of disgrace!” So, I
replied to him: “They are blind and mute.”
And this is supported by what some of the Salaf said:
“The one who is silent about the truth is a silent devil, while the one who speaks falsehood is a speaking devil.”
So, if the one who compromises by
remaining silent comes to know that he is from the most hated of people
to Allah even if he thinks he is good, he would speak openly.

How To Make The Most Of Ramadan Part 2.Alhamdulillah another month of Ramadhan has come upon us. As we know, this is a month in which the mercy of Allah descending upon the earth is unlimited. It is this mercy that gives us the strength to abstain from food and drink for most of the day and then to stand for prayer late into the night. In fact, all of the virtues promised to us regarding Ramadhan make it clear that Allah wants us to take maximum benefit from this month and use it to make a change in our lives for the better. However, we find that year after year the month passes us by, and we are left to rue the fact that we did not do as much as we should have. Many of us continue our lives after Ramadhan as they were before with little or no change. My aim is to mention a few points which will allow us to utilise our time as best as we can inshaAllah and reap the rewards of this sacred month.
1. Preparation
“There is no intelligence like planning” (Bayhaqi)
Prepare for the month of Ramadhan in advance. Ensure that you are ready physically and mentally for this month. Those with medical conditions, ensure you seek both religious and medical advice related to fasting.
2. Consistency
“The most beloved actions in the sight of Allah are those done regularly though they may be small” (Muslim)
Make a timetable. For those working, differentiate between working days and holidays. There are enough hours in the day to work, have enough rest and read your allocated portion of the Quran. Be moderate in your planning and make a timetable that you can stick to.
3. The Month of the Quran
“The month of Ramadhan in which the Quran was revealed” (Quran 2:185)
This month is about the Quran. Those that cannot recite the Quran fluently, ensure you learn this month. Remember it is your duty to learn to recite correctly, so find someone who can teach you. Those that can recite correctly, plan to complete the Quran at least once. Follow the guide which shows how much to recite, and fit it into your timetable.
4. Avoid Sins
“There may be people who fast and gain nothing from their fast except hunger” (Ibn Majah)
Make sure you are not the recipient of this Hadith. All the worship will be of no avail if you commit sins whilst fasting. Avoid unnecessary social gatherings as it can lead to backbiting, lies and time wasting.

Quran Vs Mobile.The Abandonment Of The Quran.The Messenger has said, O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Quran as [a thing] abandoned. [Quran, 25:30]
Who are the people he is complaining about?
Historically apparently all (sunni) mufassireen are in consensus, that the people our Messenger (peace be upon him) was complaining about where his people: the tribe of Quraish!
But this could also apply to any Muslim (after the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and now) who abandoned the Quran.
What is the meaning of abandoning the Qur’an?
Some of the meanings from the historical perspective were quoted by servant, but most could be found in the Quran itself:
They used not to prevent one another from wrongdoing that they did…. 5:79
They didn’t advise each other or prevent each other from doing wrong.
And they prevent [others] from him and are [themselves] remote from him … 6:26
They tried to kept themselves and others away from listening to the Quran
Do not listen to this Qur’an and speak noisily during [the recitation of] it …41:26
They didn’t listen to the Quran and tried to create disturbance, by speaking loudly, so that the believers also couldn’t listen!
Imam al-Qurtoby quoted a hadith from a book of a-Tha’labi on the authority of Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) to explain abandoned:
من تعلم القرآن وعلق مصحفه لم يتعاهده ولم ينظر فيه جاء يوم القيامة متعلقا به يقول يا رب العالمين إن عبدك هذا اتخذني مهجورا فاقض بيني وبينه
From this we could conclude some meanings for hajr/abondoning for any later generation (some of the points are taken from my later reference from a quote of ibn al-Qayyim):
They don’t apply the rules of the Quran.
They don’t listen to it (which may also mean take it as a basis for rules).
They don’t believe in it (or reject parts of it).
They don’t base the ahkam of sahri’a on it.
They read it but don’t try to understand and reflect on the meanings of what they read.
They don’t read the Quran.
They don’t teach and memorize it.
They left the Quran and toke other sources for religious ruling (from tafsir ibn Kathir)
They don’t seek cure for their disease and help in it.
They just keep it as a decor unused in their houses.
… One could summarize they don’t make it a part of their lives! And this is in total contradiction to our Belief. As we are asked as Muslims to follow the example of our beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him) about whom his wife ‘Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) said:
His character was the Qur’an …

Sheikh Abdul Hamid Kishk | The Ruling On Abandoning The Salah (Prayer) HUDUD LAW. he scholars agree that the ḥudūd are legislated to ensure justice between the people and to protect their natural rights to life and property.
Ibn Al-Qayyim writes:
قَدْ بَيَّنَ سُبْحَانَهُ بِمَا شَرَعَهُ مِنْ الطُّرُقِ أَنَّ مَقْصُودَهُ إقَامَةُ الْعَدْلِ بَيْنَ عِبَادِهِ وَقِيَامُ النَّاسِ بِالْقِسْطِ فَأَيُّ طَرِيقٍ اُسْتُخْرِجَ بِهَا الْعَدْلُ وَالْقِسْطُ فَهِيَ مِنْ الدِّينِ وَلَيْسَتْ مُخَالِفَةً لَهُ
Allah the Exalted has made clear in his law (sharia) that the objective is the establishment of justice between his servants and fairness among the people, so whichever path leads to justice and fairness is part of the religion and can never oppose it.

Any practice that leads to justice and the protection of people’s rights is necessarily a part of Islam, even if it is not based on an explicit text. The question is not whether the ḥudūd punishments should be reintroduced as statutory law, but rather: how can classical Islamic law be adapted to meet the needs of justice in modern societies?
Moreover, a literal and decontextualized application of the ḥudūd in some Muslim countries has led to injustice as these laws have disproportionately targeted the lower classes and women, and they have been applied without necessary due process and appropriate legal counsel in defense of the accused. It cannot be said that an unjust application of an Islamic law is, in reality, a faithful adherence to Islam.
Ibn Al-Qayyim writes:
فَكُلُّ مَسْأَلَةٍ خَرَجَتْ عَنْ الْعَدْلِ إلَى الْجَوْرِ وَعَنْ الرَّحْمَةِ إلَى ضِدِّهَا وَعَنْ الْمَصْلَحَةِ إلَى الْمَفْسَدَةِ وَعَنْ الْحِكْمَةِ إلَى الْبَعْثِ فَلَيْسَتْ مِنْ الشَّرِيعَةِ وَإِنْ أُدْخِلَتْ فِيهَا بِالتَّأْوِيلِ
Every matter which abandons justice for tyranny, mercy for cruelty, benefit for corruption, and wisdom for foolishness is not a part of the Sharia even if it was introduced therein by an interpretation.

In other words, if the application of the letter of the law does not result in justice, mercy, benefit, and wisdom, then it cannot properly be considered an Islamic law even if it is based upon an interpretation of the Quran, the Sunnah, and the jurisprudence of the scholars.

In a hadith that Imam Ahmad b. Hanbal and many other scholars reported from Ibn Abbas, the Messenger of Allah stated the following:
"When your brothers were smitten at the battle of Uhud, Allah put their spirits in the crops of green birds; they went down to the rivers of Paradise, ate its fruit and nestled in lamps of gold in the shade of the Throne. Then when they experienced the sweetness of their food, drink and rest, they asked: 'Who will tell our brothers about us that we are alive in Paradise provided with provision, in order that they might not be disinterested in jihad and recoil in war?'
Allah Most High said: 'I shall tell them about you' So Allah sent down these verses."(Muslim, Imama 121; Abu Dawud, Jihad 25; Tirmidhi, Tafsiru Surah, 3/19)

THE POWERFUL ARAB RULER THAT WANTED TO KILL PROPHET MUHAMMAD [SAW] It has been proven that the best and most effective way of preaching is through the preacher's own conduct and action rather than his speech or words. This method best exemplified in spreading the message of Islam, especially in sub-Saharan, North Africa and South East Asia. The character of the Muslim men of religion and their trading practices towards the natives. Their etiquettes and good character attracted these natives to enter the fold of Islam on their own free will. In the story of the conversion of our today's hero we have an interesting testimony to the effectiveness of action and exemplary behavior in preaching.
The companion that we are relating today is about a figure no one on earth more hateful to Rasulullah SAW – a staunch non-believer Thumamah Ibn Uthal. But after his encounter with Rasulullah SAW he declared “Now you are the most beloved one to me."
In the sixth year after the Hijrah, Rasulullah SAW, may the blessings of God be on him, decided to expand the scope of his mission. He sent eight letters to rulers in the Arabian Peninsula and surrounding areas inviting them to Islam. One of these rulers was Thumamah ibn Uthal. Thumamah ibn Uthal was one of the most powerful Arab rulers in pre-Quranic times. This is not surprising since he was a chieftain of the Banu Hanifah and one of the rulers of al- Yamamah whose word no one dared to challenge or disobey. When Thumamah ibn Uthal received the Rasulullah SAW’s letter, he was consumed by anger and rejected it. Thumamah ibn Uthal refused to listen to the invitation of Truth and goodness. More than that, he felt a strong desire to go and kill Rasulullah SAW and bury his mission with him. Thumamah ibn Uthal waited and waited for a convenient time to carry out his design against Rasulullah SAW until eventually forgetfulness caused him to lose interest. One of his uncles, however, reminded him of his plan, praising what he intended to do.
In the pursuit of his evil design against Rasulullah SAW, Thumamah Ibn Uthal met and killed a group of Rasulullah SAW’s companions. Rasulullah SAW thereupon declared Thumamah Ibn Uthal a wanted man who could lawfully be killed on sight. Not long afterwards, Thumamah Ibn Uthal decided to perform umrah. Thumamah Ibn Uthal wanted to perform tawaf around the Kaabah and sacrifice to the idols there. So Thumamah Ibn Uthal left al-Yamamah for Makkah. As Thumamah Ibn Uthal was passing near Madinah, an incident took place which he had not anticipated. Groups of Muslims were patrolling the districts of Madinah and outlying areas on the lookout for any strangers or anyone intent on causing trouble.
