Bill O’Reilly has been booted off Fox News.
The sometimes-combative TV-talk host’s demise came after more than a week of “vacation” away from the show after six women say he sexually harassed them.
Fox said in a statement:
“After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel.”
Fox had just re-signed the 67-year-old O’Reilly to an undisclosed multi-million dollar, 3-year contract last month. In the past year, Fox has lost three of its prime-time show hosts, Greta Van Susteren, Megyn Kelly, and now O’Reilly.
But despite the losses, the network has continued to score record ratings.
The decision on the part of Rupert Murdoch and his two sons, James and Lachlan, comes with significant risk attached. “The O’Reilly Factor,” has been the network’s top-rated show for nearly 20 years, drawing an average of 4 million viewers per night – in the first 3 months of the year – a cable news record.
O’Reilly has settled 5 allegations of sexual harassment since 2002 for a hefty $13 million in exchange for the womens’ silence.
But a 6th woman, a former “O’Reilly Factor” guest named Wendy Walsh, alleged sexual harassment, but never sued.
Yesterday, a 7th, still anonymous woman filed a complaint with Fox.
Advertisers have fled the program, leaving it nearly sponsor-less for the last 2 weeks. Even a recent endorsement from President Trump couldn’t save O’Reilly.
O’Reilly has never admitted to any sort of harassment. In his only public statement on the matter two weeks ago, he said his fame had made him a target, and so he had been forced to settle the lawsuits to spare his children the negative publicity.

Le Pen Supports State Money. French Election Sunday, 1587
This Sunday is election day in France – the first round of voting in the much-anticipated 2017 Presidential election. The first round will whittle the 11 candidates currently in the race down to just two. Then, 2 weeks later, a runoff election between the final two will determine the next president of France on May 7th.
Yesterday evening, during the final televised debate between all 11 candidates, Paris suffered its latest terror attack.
A gunman with an AK-47 assault rifle opened fire on a police patrol parked on the Champs Elysees - Paris’s most famous avenue – instantly killing one officer, and seriously injuring two others. ISIS quickly took credit for the attack.
The two leading Presidential candidates in the race, conservative member of the European Parliament, Marine Le Pen, and 39-year-old investment banker, Emmanuel Macron, both vowed to end campaigning one day early.
Interestingly, campaigning comes to an abrupt end at midnight the Friday night before Sunday’s election – giving French voters the weekend to make their decision, free of the media chatter surrounding a presidential campaign.
Marine Le Pen, this morning called on the French government to immediately reinstate controls at the French borders.
“My government … will implement this policy, so that the Republic will live, and France will live.”
In stark contrast, Macron, who is leading Le Pen by a slight margin in some polls, argued against a quick government response:
“We must not yield to fear today.”
However, just as in Trump’s election, remember, polls can be easily manipulated. If he won, Macron would become the youngest president in French history. Macron is definitely the big banker’s candidate. He was an investment banker before he became France’s economy minister. He wants France to stay in both the European Union and it’s money, the Euro.
Le Pen, on the other hand is the French version of Donald Trump - plus something extra - if I’m reading the tea leaves right.
Le Pen wants out of the European Union, despite being a member of the European Parliament. She is an anti-invasion hawk and says she will try to rescue French culture from a burgeoning immigrant population.
She has pledged to get France out of the Euro, as well, and return to its historic sovereign money, the French Franc.
Unlike Macron who has been well-funded by loans from the big French banks, Le Pen has not been able to get a single French bank to lend to her campaign. French banks have stonewalled her candidacy.
So, why? What gives? This one little sentence in a piece by Reuters this week on the issues for each of the 11 candidates reveals why. One of Le Pen’s issues is to:
“Re-establish French franc currency and make central bank answerable to French Treasury.”
Most people will simply shrug their shoulders and ask, “So what?”
Because most people think this is the way their national economic system functions – the central bank would be under control of the national Treasury Department and the Treasury would issue the money and maintain its value by controlling the quantity issued. But no!
For example, in the U.S. our central bank, the Federal Reserve System, is completely out of the control of the government – the Treasury Department, or the Congress – and Fed officials brag about their power.

Prof. Clifford Thies Predicts “A Surprisingly Strong Win for Trump”
As we come down to less than one day before the polls open, an interesting variety of truly non-partisan people are predicting a Trump win tomorrow.
One such person is Professor Clifford Thies, the Chair of Free Enterprise at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA.
Dr. Thies has been in communication with me for several weeks. Initially he said that Trump has a tough road ahead, however, as the weeks have gone by, his optimism has increased and yesterday when I asked him for his final prediction, this was his response.
“A total across the boards victory for Republicans: A surprisingly strong win for Trump in terms of the electoral vote. He takes all of the Romney states. He wins Ohio and Iowa big. He holds North Carolina.
“He wins Florida, New Hampshire and Nevada by a percent or two. And he wins two or more of the following five states because he outperforms the polls: CO, Michigan, NM, PA and VA.
“Possibly also one or more of: ME (at-large), MI, MN, NM, or WI. Net loss of zero Senate seats. Net loss of 12 or less House seats. Net gain of 3 Governors.”
Prof. Thies says that Trump’s late changes in itinerary is a “tell” to what’s going on inside the campaign:
“Trump's change in his itinerary, in conjunction with the polling information available to the public, was a tell. It signaled that Trump's internal polling shows him that he has a real shot at stealing one or more of Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Virginia from Hillary Clinton, but not much chance of stealing Wisconsin.”

Marco Rubio told Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly on Wednesday evening during a broadcast at his sparsely-attended rally in Miami that he regretted veering off his normal campaign rhetoric by making several days worth of so-called “con-artist” attacks against front-runner Donald Trump.
Rubio told Kelly:
"My kids were embarrassed by it. My wife didn’t like it. I don’t think it reflects good. That’s not who I am.”
The Rubio mea gulpa – the Latin phrase meaning “through my fault” that is typically an acknowledgement of wrongdoing – may be too little and too late. Rubio posted dismal numbers in last Tuesday’s voting – with 3rd place finishes in Idaho and Hawaii and single digit 4th place finishes in Michigan and Mississippi.
Rubio desperately needs to pull out a win in his home state of Florida on Tuesday. Despite the release of another dubious Wall Street Journal/NBC poll showing Rubio closing on Trump, the more respected CNN/ORC poll shows the Trump lead growing to an insurmountable 16 point lead – 40 to 24%.
The same poll shows Trump leading in Ohio with 41% and Rubio a distant 4th with only 7%.
Should Rubio lose Florida, some now believe that his only hope of salvaging a political career is the 2018 Florida governor’s race where term-limited Gov. Rick Scott has to step aside.
However, it is unlikely that Rubio will ever recover from doing the bidding of the Masters of the Universe by attacking Trump. Not only did it not work, but Trump – as always – only got stronger.
In Christian terms, Trump’s invincibility is called “an anointing.”
However, at the root of Rubio’s problems in his quest for Florida votes are numerous allegations - only recently surfacing - of not only Rubio’s con-artist misconduct during his time as Florida Speaker of the House, but even before that with his youthful associations in Miami’s seedy drug and sex-laced under-culture.
So why did a candidate with such a deeply-troubled past become the Republican “establishment’s” anointed favorite candidate to dump Trump in his runaway quest for president of the United States?
The answer is perhaps THE most important lesson for the American body politic. That is, the old notion of the Chicago “made-man”.
Marco Rubio is the classic example -- someone with a past that he desperately wants to hide. The establishment pressures the mostly-compliant media away from the truth. The payback is total control of the candidate.
The establishment will always seek out a made-man candidate to put at the top of the ticket – on both sides of the political spectrum.
The result is what you hear Trump rail about at every rally - all-talk, no action politicians who promise one thing to get elected; then only does the establishment’s bidding once elected.
Obama was a made-man. Same for both Rubio and Ted Cruz. Both Clintons : the same. The Bushes? If history confirms half of Roger Stones’ latest book, at least some of the Bushs will be included in the category.
By the way – NEWS FLASH – I have a growing respect for Stone. I’m glad he’s on our side this time.
Candidates who are not made-men, feel free to speak out fearlessly.
Huckabee – clean. Carson – clean. Kasich? Probably clean - and I say “probably”, only because he was a managing director at Lehman Brothers until it crashed and declared bankruptcy in 2008. However, Kasich responded to the Lehman question publicly in 2010 with his typical common-sense approach:
"I wasn't involved in the inner workings of Lehman, I was a banker. I didn't go to board meetings or go and talk investment strategy with the top people. I was nowhere near that. That's like, it's sort of like being a car dealer in Zanesville and being blamed for the collapse of GM."
Donald Trump – on the other hand - has lived his life in the spotlight for decades, and under THE most intensive scrutiny possible for the last 9 months. What’s come out is probably all there is – although you can be sure the Clinton’s will come up with something.

A rare white rhino was shot 3 times in the head yesterday by poachers Thoiry Zoo west of Paris, who then used a chain saw to cut off his horn. This is the first time that poachers have attacked an animal residing in a European zoo.
The 5-year-old white rhinoceros named Vince was discovered by workers at 9:30 am. Rhino horns can sell for up to $40,000 on the black market to enter the traditional Chinese medicine market to treat gout and other problems.
