Dancers at a Birmingham strip club are fined up to £40 for not turning up and are not allowed to wear heels on the furniture. Scarlets, which last week won its licence renewal application to re-open at Horse Fair, has revealed the list of rules and regulations its dancers must adhere to. It states dancers must arrive ten minutes before their shift starts and are fined £10 for every 30 minutes they are late. They are charged £40 if they do not attend and they fail to give any notice. The performers must carry out at least one pole dance per shift while private dances must last for three minutes and cost £20 minimum. Other rules include no heels to be worn on furniture with repeat offenders facing a fine, while chewing gum must be consumed 'discreetly'. There are also more obvious demands such as no drugs, no stealing and no prostitution, while customers are not allowed to touch dancers or proposition them. The club was questioned over its rules during the Birmingham City Council Licensing and Public Protection committee hearing as the renewal application was decided. Cllr Olly Armstrong compared the club's rules to the neighbouring Birmingham Royal Ballet and Birmingham Hippodrome, both of which had opposed to Scarlet's re-opening arguing it was an 'inappropriate' venue next to their premises. Cllr Armstrong said: "I am aware that both the Hippodrome and the ballet will employ a high number of freelancers, now I'm pretty sure - because I have worked in that environment - they don't get fined for various things like being late, or this list of fines we have got for some of your performers. Back in 2000 a few researchers went to Croydon to talk to staff of the Croydon Library and Croydon Council to see if the reports of a bunker were true. The reactions were mixed but piecing together what we found out there is a bunker under Croydon Library accessible via the lifts with a secret keycard and number keypad and this bunker extends right the way under the croydon city streets to underneath the council buildings. We have never found any information in newspapers or websites relating to this bunker however we were informed by our source that "hundreds" or TV screens with CCTV were present and many staff were manning this section of the bunker.
