The lack of any FPV-themed videos reflects the fact that a) the weather in the UK has been horrific, and b) I was on holiday with the family.
We spent 10 nights in a lovely resort called Sun Peaks, which is near Kamloops in Canada. Fantastic place, with the only pain being the huge journey to/from the UK and the 8 hour time difference. (the 6 hour delay on the way home didn't help either)
I would have loved to have FPV'd up and down the mountains, but instead the whole family was equipped with GoPro mounts to their helmets. I ended up with 94GB of footage of which at least 70% is us telling each other our ski boots hurt. Despite the various and sometimes big looking crashes, no injuries, and we all went back in one piece.
Stories have been flying (no pun intended) thick and fast today, so I wanted to put out a quick video there just to reassure people that's it's all ok... at least for now anyway.
Fly safe, and have fun out there.

A little bit of fun flying with FBS after crashing my fx-79 again. Had some fun chases around the field, and I was very impressed by it's ability not to break when hammered into the ground.
I had a quick fly or two, it's very impressive that out of the box you have a machine that will fly pretty smoothly. I did, however, notice a weird yaw correction on the profile that was being used which I didn't like at all. There's other profiles to choose though, or you could just come up with your own pids/modify theirs.

The Ratel series of cameras has always been my go-to for analog FPV. So I was keen to test this new model, the Ratel Pro. Due to bad weather here in the UK, no flying yet, so this is a general test looking at the features and seeing how the picture looks in daylight/nighttime/indoors. Part 2 will (eventually) come when I'll actually fly a quad with it.

If you have an older car with no inbuilt screen and/or a way of making/receiving calls from your phone, or using a sat nav, and playing music from your phone... then this is a product that might be of interest. I thought it was an interesting prospect, so I'm checking it out.

Today I'll be checking out the WIO Terminal from Seeedstudio. It's a programmable microcontroller with an LCD screen already attached with a bunch of sensors in it - with the option of adding more. With a little box of tricks like this, you can make a lot of interesting projects - but for me, I want to turn it into a useful tool for testing RC bits and bobs. As one of the things I often need to test are GPS receivers, let's start there.
You can check out the WIO Terminal over at Seeed's site here https://www.seeedstudio.com/Wio-Terminal-p-4509.html You'll also find links to the programming tutorials, projects, and the groove sensors from that main page.
You can find the code I wrote for this little project here https://github.com/CurryKitten/WIO_Tools

This is part 1 of this review. Whilst I'm not a fan of a "bench review" it's going to take me a little time (especially with the weather) to build and fly the quad I have lined up, but I think it should be fun to try it out once we get there.

Maiden (Video) - the actual maiden flight ended in two broken legs. Really strong wind here, but she handles very nicely - and no crashes... I'm happy
This is exactly as the previous clip, but also contains footage from the onboard camera which was attached to look at how much vibration it would suffer at this point. A reasonable amount right now.

After blowing 2 LittleBee 20a ESCs and my pz0420m camera, this is the first few flights (my 4th lipo, but they only go for 3 minutes) on this quad. It's got the same LittleBee 20A ESCs - I simply replaced these as I think I have a reasonable understanding of why these blew, but the camera is now an HS1177 as I thought it may be easier to vary my tilt.
Well, it needs some tuning - looks fairly good at low speed, but gets some oscillations at higher throttle. I had thought TPA was not in use in the rewrite PID setting on cleanflight any longer, but I couldn't see that in the docs, so I'll have a go at messing with that.
Despite the odd wobble at high rpm, the quad feels very locked in and is a joy to fly :) Must get some more 4s lipos, I've only got 4 and you burn through them pretty quickly !
