After seeing some Goombas and Koopas, hit the ? Block to reveal a Mini Mushroom. While in tiny form, enter a small pipe. You can run on water while in tiny form and do a wall kick for the first Star Coin before going to the surface. Use a Koopa shell to break garbage blocks then enter the next pipe. In the underground cave, hit the P Switch to swap the blocks and coins then make your way to the 2nd Star Coin. After the checkpoint, stay in tiny form then run through a small opening for the 3rd Star Coin. After a pipe that releases Goombas, you’ll find the goal.

Celadon City’s gym has trees that require the HM move Cut to take down. You’ll battle a few female trainers then take on the gym leader. Erika uses Grass type Pokémon. Victreebel will use Razor Leaf to make hits turn critical often while Vileplume will use Petal Dance to go on a rampage for 2-3 turns then becoming confused thereafter. The opposing Grass type Pokémon are easy to take out by Fire, Ice, and Flying type moves. Try an Ice Beam attack for example. After winning, you’ll receive the Rainbow Badge and a TM21 (Mega Drain). Mega Drain restores the user’s HP by half the damage the opponent took.

During the winter, a Golden Lynel, said to be one of the 4 Golden Beasts, will appear at the Tarm Ruins. A Lynel is a very tough enemy that will lunge with the swords in its hands and even throw arrows. A Golden Lynel has higher health than ordinary ones. This is the only time you’ll battle this enemy until you defeat it.

Azalea Town’s gym features platforms that run on grid lines. Adjusting the lever will change the lines at some spots, which will change the direction the platform travels. Navigate the lines and you’ll be able to take on the gym leader. Bugsy uses Bug type Pokémon. Scyther will use Focus Energy to raise its critical hit ratio and Quick Attack to strike first. After the battle, you’ll receive the Hive Badge and a TM89 (U-turn). After U-turn does damage, the user switches out for another Pokémon.
