This clear dries much harder than regular clear and is supposed to be scratch and mar resistant from everyday use.

ABRN, Buter Community College and Ohio Technical College have partnered together to bring you auto collision repair and car painting tips. In this video we're going to discuss and demonstrate how to spray primer sealer and base coat. We have already prepped an OEM fender by sanding with 500 grit on a DA with a soft pad and surfing the edges with a maroon scuff pad.
Method 1
Painting the part before it is installed onto the vehicle is one of two methods that we practice at Butler. This allows the painter to paint the part with less masking, which makes a smother and cleaner finish. The problem with this methods is that care must be taken when installing the part without damaging the new painted surfaces. Normally, adjacent panels will still require blending to provide an invisible repair.
Method 2
The second way that we practice is to edge the panel, then install it on the vehicle. Then the panel is masked with the blending area and the panel can be painted while blending the adjacent panels. This makes panel alignment easier and any scuffed made while installing the panel can be easily repaired during the refinish process.
Both methods are effective and have pros and cons. However, many shops that I speak to use one or the other method. Therefore, we teach both ways to better prepare the student for the industry.

NEXA AutoColor waterborne primer surfacer by PPG is a new primer. THis is a waterborne primer surfacer that has a 24 hour pot life and is ready to sand 30 minutes after the last coat is applied.
We tested the primer and found it to work well. The mill thickness was not as thick per coat as the solvent primer we have been using. The new primer is also a 1K primer. All that is mixed is the reducer and it's ready to spray.
It is still new to us, but we'll keep you posted. If you have used it, be sure and let us know what you think about it.

More info. at http://CollisionBlast.com - In this video tutorial I am demonstrating how to remove overspray on a car using a clay bar. This is useful in a body shop is overspray gets on painted surface or the glass when painting a car.
http://CollisionBlast.com - This is a quick video clip I shot at SEMA. I tried using the welder, but it was quite a bit different than actual welding.
This system may teach someone proper gun angle, speed and distance. Once you have that down, I think it would be easier to learn how to weld. However, nothing replaces the real thing of hands on actual welding.
It would be interesting to see a study of one group of student learning to weld with 20 hours of virtual welding and 20 hours actual welding. And another group of students with 40 hours of actual welding to see how they compare.
If the virtual/actual improved as well as the all actual students, this would save a lot of money on material for training purposes. If you know of any study that has been done on these welders or if you have any opinions about virtual welders, let us know by leaving a comment below.
