Why Do We Say | Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is
The # 1 way to improve English speaking and sound more natural is to learn and use these POWERFUL English expressions.
Why do we say, "Put your money where your mouth is"?
This is a way to challenge somebody by using a FUNNY EXPRESSION and see if they believe what they say.
It was first used in the magazine The New Yorker in 1913, and referenced an argument between 2 United States Senators.
Use this English Expression when you don't believe something somebody is claiming. It's a fun way to challenge what they are saying without being aggressive.
In task-based learning or Project-Based Learning (PBL), students learn English by being given tasks and using the language to perform the assignment.
In this assignment, you will assign students to create a tutorial to teach others how to do something in English.
The students will first choose a simple skill that they can do and create a step-by-step tutorial (in person or on video) to teach others how to do this skill.
This is great to get students to speak about something that they care about because they are choosing what they want to teach. They will build their English fluency, giving step-by-step instructions, and speaking in detail to be understood.
PRO TIP: The teacher should create a tutorial first as an example for the students to follow.
