In this video we're driving the 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro 4x4 4.0-liter V6 and 5-speed automatic transmission. We normally get these vehicles for a full week to drive and test out before I film my review and make my final conclusions on the vehicle. This one though, I've had the pleasure of driving for 2-weeks and have put a ton of miles on including a road-trip down to Austin from Dallas. It's always great when we're able to spend that much time in a vehicle and really get a good feeling of how it feels as a day-to-day driver. We had the opportunity to check out the all-new 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale here in Dallas and outside of Alfa engineers, this is the only Tonale in the country at the time. The Tonale is a segment C crossover that’s made to slot below the already great Stelvio Crossover as Alfa expands its brand here in the U.S. So let’s dive into it starting with these uniquely Alfa styling. The front end is unmistakably Alfa with that triangle grille and those new and innovative 3+3 headlights. Smooth curves flow over the telephone dial wheels Along the back, you get more curves and nice looking dual exhaust rounding out the sporty looks The cargo area is nice and big although we don’t have exact specs on it just yet. What we do know more about are the powertrains you’ll have available. 2 different powertrains to be exact, including a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and then an Alfa first plug-in hybrid system with a 1.3-liter gas engine and a 15.5kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers 30 miles of all-electric range. Alfa has also announced they will be leading the charge when it comes to all-electric vehicles in the Stalantas portfolio. No matter what trim of the Tonale you get, you’ll have an all-wheel-drive setup, which is great. Speaking of trims the Tonale will be offered in 3 trims to start. You’ll have the Sprint as your base trim, a ti trim for your sport version, and finally a Veloce for your top-of-the-line luxury trim. One of the more controversial elements of this new crossover for some has been the fact that the Tonale is based on the Jeep Compass or Renegade platforms. My opinion on that is I’ll have to drive it before I’d trash it. I’ve driven the new Compass and Renegade and both are pretty solid and Alfa Romeo isn’t just taking those vehicles and throwing a new body on top. You’re talking about a whole different animal and I trust the people at Alfa to make an amazing machine. From our first look at the interior and sitting in the crossover touching all there is to touch, I can say it definitely won’t disappoint. All models of the Tonale are equipped with a 12.3-inch digital infotainment cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen which will run on a Uconnect 5 software suite that supported Amazon Alexa. Before we wrap this up, I’ll quickly touch on the NFT news surrounding the Tonale. Alfa says the NFT will generate a certificate that can help maintain the car's residual value and gives the consumer a unique token tied to their vehicle. While I’m all down for the new tech and I like the idea of NFTs, I’m not sure who this is really for or if it’ll make any impact on sales or demand. I guess we’ll have to see.
