Solo Cape York Adventure - Trouble at the Tip - 7/7
While exploring the Somerset Track near the tip of Cape York, I blow a shock absorber and must remove it and reposition the coil spring before limping back to Seisia to find spares.
This is part 7 of 7 of my Cape York Adventure, which I completed in June 2008 after 3 weeks travelling Cape York solo in my 200tdi Land Rover Defender 110 Station Wagon.

The final vehicle service in preparation for a trip around Australia. Before setting off on a long-term solo trip into remote areas, I like to do a complete change of all vehicle oils and filters, including air, fuel and oil filters, engine, transfer & gearbox oils, and front & rear diff oils.
My fuel sedimentor is also cleaned and all drive shafts and steering components greased. A thorough check of all brake lines, shock absorber bushes, nuts and bolts, wiring underneath the vehicle is also completed.
This preparation is for my upcoming 2018 4x4 trip around Australia.

I install 310W of solar panels to my Land Rover Defender 110 touring 4x4 for long term off grid travelling in Australia.
This created a total of 440W of combined solar from the 3 panels and 250ah from the 2 AGM batteries.

Land Rover Series 2 1959 109in Utility
Lonely Landys of Lockhart, a tribute to the Land Rovers' whose time for adventure and discovery of what lies beyond has ended, and who now rest peacefully in the environs of the Lockhart River region, Cape York Australia. One can only imagine the stories these vehicles could tell and the sights they've seen during their lives. Now retired, they await the decades ahead, gradually returning to the earth on which they once roamed.

A 13 Day Epic Adventure exploring Currawinya National Park in outback Queensland. Join the journey as I uncover Currawinya's secrets, in part 1 discovering the Caiwarro homestead ruins, and camp at Corni Paroo Waterhole and Caiwarro Waterhole.
Cairarro ruins have a wealth of relics to uncover, from decades of beer bottles dating back as early as the 1920's, tins, motors, and the remaining homestead structures. Imagine the life of the early Sheep shearers living on this remote station.
Corni Paroo Waterhole has numerous sites to choose from along the banks, with plenty of room to canoe or swim. Plenty of birdlife around in the mornings.
Caiwarro Waterhole offers several epic camp sites and a great bushwalking experience exploring up and down the waterhole edges for wildlife and relics, including the Brolga and Major Mitchell's Cockatoo.
Join me in part 1 for my discoveries of what Currawinya has to offer the outback traveller.

Hinchinbrook Island National Park, and the several small surrounding islands, are one of tropical North Queensland's most picturesque spots. Located between Townsville and Cairns, the area is home to beautiful sandy beaches, dense island forests, mangroves, mountains and crystal clear waters. What more can you ask for.
In August 2009, several mates and I hired a houseboat for a week to explore and enjoy this little piece of Australian paradise. We explored the Northern end of Hinchinbrook island and the several islands to the north. An adventure in the making.
"Part 2 - The Fishing" is a highlight reel of some of the great catches experienced during the week. Using bait, lures, trolling and popping techniques a decent haul was caught for a fresh feed of fish.
