Eric and I headed up to the St Lawrence River and put the hurting on the smallmouth during the prespawn. We caught a bunch of great smallmouth bass and they were sucking down the bait! I was using a Lucky Craft Pointer and Eric was using the Mega Bass. I have used this jerkbait after this video and can tell you it is the deal! Eric was using a spinning rod and I was using the Dobyns 705.

Who is SmallmouthCrush?

When I first signed up for the FLW Northern Costa's in the beginning of the year I was fishing them to do well in each individual tournament, make the FLW Championship and it is a personal goal to try and qualify for the tour every year. The last 3 years I have qualified for the tour but have turned it down each time. I also had a goal of making it to the FLW Cup. With the buyout of FLW and MLF taking control they decided to get rid of the cup towards the end of the season and take away the ultimate goal of anyone who is fishing the FLW Costa Series. They choose to not care about the 12 anglers who made it when there is plenty of options,ideas and ways to make this right. Instead they ignored it hoping it would just go away.
FLW and Major League Fishing need to make this right….12 anglers worked extremely hard to get to this point and qualify. It is time FLW and MFL stand up for the anglers and make this right. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of anything from both of these organizations. It is beyond crazy how they are treating the 12 anglers that rightfully qualified for the FLW CUP. The new FLW title championship could be a great way to let the public know that the FLW and MFL want to do what is right for the anglers and allow them to fish in this championship. No one is going to deny that we deserve it and it would make up for what they have done. I don't know one angler who would have fished this and have this opportunity be pulled away who would not be upset about it.
I am asking that Major League Fishing (MLF) and the FLW will do what is right in regards to this matter and make this issue right!

I am glad to be back up on the 1000 islands looking for some monster smallmouth bass! I love this place! This is one of my top 3 places to fish for Smallmouth Bass and I am getting ready to put the beat down on these fish for the last regular FLW BFL of the season! I am still leading AOY in points somehow but only have a 4 or 5 point lead going into this event! I hope I can find some good fish and get the job done! I am staying with Matt and we are actually staying at the same cottages where we stayed for the FLW Costa Series Event up here. The Bass are biting and the weather is terrible, but I think we will be able to put something together!

found-a-new-lipless-crankbait-that-is
Nomad Design has three styles of Lipless Crankbaits that I have been using recently.
One of the Lipless baits are called the Swimtrex Max which is a great bait for grass or searching around hard cover for bass. It has a great vibration and just like all of Nomads baits they are well made and durable. They also make a Swimtrex which is a great bait for hoping off the bottom. The fall action on this bait is incredible and I will be able to use this well into the fall months and also anytime I need to slow down my retrieve. The other Lipless Crankbait that Nomad Designs make is called the Swimtrex. This is a very unusual bait that is soft bodies and has a tail. This bait give off some great action and I caught well over 50 fish on this bait in just one day. I'll be using the Nomad Design baits a lot in the future and look forward to trying all of their products at some point.

Who is SmallmouthCrush?
Travis Manson was born and raised in Wisconsin. He started fishing from the bank at a young age and spent most of his childhood with a rod in his hand. Travis is primarily a self-taught angler that is always learning and experiencing this amazing sport of fishing. He started out fishing for walleyes and fishing in local walleye tournaments, but then in his mid 20's, he caught the BASS BUG and has been hooked ever since. He competed at the highest level in bass fishing on the Bassmaster Elite Series for a number of years. He is a full time fishing guide offering trips on Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River.
His Youtube Channel is named after his passion for the smallmouth bass and will be used as a platform for "how-to" videos, on the water instruction, crazy on and off the water topics on the day in the life of a fishing addict!
