http://TrinityDigitalMedia.com
When it comes to video there are three types of editing. In-camera, linear, and non-linear editing each have their strengths. I first started editing using a linear editor over a decade ago. That's not exactly true. I edited a video using a video toaster, but didn't really know what I was doing. For a class, I used an introductory system called "Avid Cinema" which output kind of ugly video using a scan converter and a vcr. Between that time and when I started using Final Cut, I learned to used a linear editor.
It was controlled by a computer, but at its heart, the system was three VTRs (professional video tape recorders). I could cut between two video tapes, a character generator, and record onto another tape. There was no capturing or transferring of video to a computer. The computer and the attached keyboard were just the control mechanism. It used a video switcher to do the transitions. If you wanted to just create titles on the beginning of a video, it was a quick way to do it.
The downside was that each time you changed something you copied from one tape to another. With digital, that doesn't matter, but with analog tapes, it could get bad quickly.
If you have a camera, you can do what's called in-camera editing. Saying it is simple, but doing it is hard. You just choose what you want to record and think, while you're shooting, about the story. If you're shooting a birthday party, you want to shoot the games, shoot the cake, shoot the candles being blown out, shoot the presents being opened, etc. Remember the end of the previous shot when you start the next one so that you can avoid breaking the 180 rule (more about that later) and vary the shots enough to not have a jump cut.

[tweet "To organize media in ProPresenter 5, you don't create a folder and add media to it, you do this instead:"]
I've already recorded a tutorial on organizing media in ProPresenter 5. Unfortunately, the guy who recorded that (me) was dead wrong on one important thing: you don't put media directly into folders to organize it.

On today's ChurchTechCast.com Q & A, questions on: ProPresenter (Here are the ProPresenter 5 Answers)
Here are the latest questions:
I’ve racked my brain....I’m trying to advance between video slides that share the same background (sermon point videos) and do NOT want a fade or transition or anything....just want Pro to advance to next slide with no fades or dissolves....I can’t seem to find a way to completely turn off transitions. I’ve toyed with dialing the times back on a dissolve but it’s just not working that well.

On today's Tech Help for Churches, YouTube: Getting interactions with annotations and card
[tweet "Try these tips for adding interactions with annotations and cards:"]
One of the advantages of using YouTube is that not only can you get people to watch your video, but you can also add interactivity.
The first way to do this is by including links in the description. Make sure you include the "http" or "https" from the URL and it will be clickable. That's nice, but a better way to do this is with annotations and cards.

http://trinitydigitalmedia.com What if you don't know the answers? (You don't know them all, by the way). What if you want to share what you've learned? Who do you bounce ideas off of so that you can see your own limitations? In any life, you need mentors/leaders, peers, and followers. We'll talk about that today.

DHoP on Twitter
Hi Paul, I do have a question you may be able to help me with. We are about to start training sessions at our church and will need to buy a sound board. Do you have a recommendation for a solid sound board that is simple but effective? Im not very technical with sound equipment.
(He needs 8).
