Why is the world constantly on the brink of a new financial crisis? This film explores the reasons for our risky financial system, and looks at how the financial world could be reshaped to be better prepared for the future.
Since 2008, trust between citizens and financial systems has been deeply shaken. Many were left wondering how things could go so badly wrong. And there’s no sign that the world has broken out of its spiral of crisis after crisis. The billions thrown around on financial markets have no positive effect on ordinary people. There’s now growing anger, and a determination that the current economic system, in which money means power, must finally be cleaned up. Politically, things haven’t improved since the last crisis - if anything the opposite has happened. This documentary gives voice to economists, historians, journalists, artists and activists. Given the current pandemic, it’s more clear than ever that the system needs to be challenged. Only then can we overcome the economic, political and climatic problems of the future.

Police deployed water cannon to disperse anti-lockdown protesters in The Hague as clashes erupted hours after the Dutch government announced a three-week partial lockdown in an effort to tackle a rapid surge in COVID-19 infections.
As tensions ran high, the protesters hurled objects at the officers. Police were seen using batons on some protesters.
The measures come as COVID cases soar in the Netherlands, with over 16,200 new cases recorded on Friday.
As part of the measures, restaurants, bars and supermarkets must close at 20:00 while non-essential shops are to shut at 18:00. COVID entry passes and assigned seating are required in food and drink venues as well as event venues.

The tiny French village of Saint-Senier-de-Beuvron in the heart of the Normandy countryside is taking on one of the world's richest tech billionaires: #SpaceX founder #ElonMusk. The village has been chosen by SpaceX as one of numerous sites to build a ground station as part of its #Starlink project, which aims to provide broadband #internet from satellites in space. But fears the radio waves emitted by the station's antennas could cause health problems have led the town to block construction.

Protesters opposing mandates meant to curb the coronavirus pandemic gathered outside the French Senate in Paris, on Wednesday, to demand an end of the Sanitary Pass.
The rally was led by Patriot Party leader and presidential candidate Florian Philippot, a former MEP who has been a leading figure in antivax and COVID-sceptic movement since the start of the pandemic.
SOT, Florian Philippot, Patriot Party leader (French): "The Senate is supposed to represent their constituencies. And in their constituencies, as we've learned today, it's a disaster for cinemas, festivals, and theatres with the sanitary pass. So let us stop the sanitary pass rather than wanting to prolong it to mid-February or mid-July. Let us stop the sanitary pass. Let us stop lifting medical confidentiality in schools. Senators have the power to stop all of that. Let them use that power, we'll maintain the pressure as we’ve been doing for a year."
SOT, Catherine, rally participant (French): "The lies they tell the people, and what outrages me is that the people believes it. What outrages me is that, at some point the vaccine wasn't going to be mandatory, then it was. Then the pass would not be mandatory – according to [Social Affairs and Health Minister Olivier ] Veran. Now it's mandatory. What outrages me is that this divides the French people and these measures restrict freedoms."
France has seen over 7 million confirmed cases of the coronavirus and over 118,000 deaths with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Supporters of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange marched to the Royal Courts of Justice in London on Saturday.
Hundreds of protesters walked carrying signs demanding his release.
On Wednesday, the US is set to launch an appeal to extradite Assange after the previous attempt was blocked by a British judge earlier this year.
