We often talk about forcing a patina on a high carbon steel blade but we rarely ever speak of removing one. That is a question I field every so often so in this video I share how I remove a natural useage or forced patina.
A couple years ago the LT Wright Genesis took the Bushcraft community by storm. The original Genesis comes with a Scandinavian grind that is so popular in the Bushcraft Community. A little while later, L.T. decided to come out with a Flat Ground version of the popular knife. Here we hit up some traditional and common Bushcraft type tasks and talk about how the Flat Grind actually works with this design.
The Genesis Flat's basic pricing at the time of this filming is $175.

This is the 3rd review of the Forest Fatty knife by William Collins. Here I take the challenge by Ben from Living Survival of creating a working bow drill set one step further by using the hardest wood I have used to date which is hickory.
Keep an eye out for the next review of this blade by Justin Wolfe of Wolfe Customs. He is also known as Grierwolfe here on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/grierwolfe

While watching the TV Show Alone, the thought crossed my mind that preventing corrosion on their knife blades would be a challenge in a very wet caustic environment. This started the wheels turning on how I would handle this problem if I were in a similar situation where modern patina methods aren't available. This is the method I came up with utilizing Sumac Berries.

Here is a quick Survival Fire Tip on a viable alternative for Magnesium bars. These are cheap, quick, and efficient with a significantly longer burn time, enabling setting even the most stubborn or wet tinder ablaze.

The 3 season Underquilt from OneTigris is basically a blanket for your hammick. It provides insulation underneath to help keep you warm. It also removes the need for the awkward sleeping pads. This underquilt is designed for 40 to 68 degrees fahrenheit but I have found that with a comporably rated sleeping bag, it will keep one warm at temps around 25 degrees. For more information please check out the links below.

Welcome to the Feral Woodcraft Channel! My name is Joe and I view the Feral Woodcraft channel as one where we learn together. I try to post new videos every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Every once in a while I manage to slip one in between those time frames as well. I think of each video is the beginning of a conversation where we explore gear, skills and techniques, discuss urban and wilderness survival strategies and ideas, and even at times kick our shoes off and goof around and have some fun. I do not claim to be any kind of survival or bushcraft expert but just a regular guy exploring skills, gear, and techniques that not only better my families ability for survival but also better our time spent in nature. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope to see you in future videos!
