I did a thing! Basically, After Effects is an INCREDIBLY powerful program, and every day I learn something new. Today (or should I say over the past few days) I MADE something new.
Turns out if you can program, you can work out a graphing calculator in After Effects. It's not terribly robust at this stage, but I can graph arbitrary functions that 'behave' well. Horray!
I am still a bit uncertain if I've spent too much time working on this video, and certainly, I don't want to hype it because it inevitably won't live up to it. But I'm still super excited and not at all ashamed. :)

The Taylor Series aims help people love math. Whether you're a student in a math class or someone who has ever asked the question, "What was the big deal about Calculus?" there's something here for you.
This is part of my course on Algebra, which I hope you will find useful.

I am aiming to have one new video up every month. I hope you enjoy them!
Also, I named this the Taylor Series after the mathematical construct created by James Gregory and formally introduced by Brook Taylor ... and I picked this one in particular because my name is Derrick Taylor. :)

What happens when you flip an operation? Today, we find out something interesting when we start flipping the operations we saw in the previous video!

Today I paint the cyc wall in the recording studio!
Cyc walls are great. Cyc stands for Cyclorama, and what this means is that the seams where floor-meets-wall or wall-meets-wall are curved.
But they need to be maintained. After a lot of use, ours was pretty marked up. There were cracks along the wal where the panels were separating, there were a few dings here or there, and there was a pretty big splotch where rainwater leaked through the roof. So, time to paint it!
---
I know it's a little late, but unfortunately, I couldn't finish the task until the roof was patched up. But, that's how it goes!

In this episode of the Taylor Series Reference, we quickly go over how to subtract two natural numbers. This is just a reference video, and so it's meant for those that are merely brushing up on a topic.
(Also, for those that saw the original mispost of this video, kudos for helping me find my mistake. :) )

Hi! So, yeah, there was a little break. It's taken a while for things to readjust, but I think I'm finally back at a point where I can start making videos again.
I'll share some more details soon, but I have some pretty cool ideas for content. However, the first one is that of me setting up my little basement studio, which is going to be rather a logistical challenge! So, join me for that. :)
Also, to those patrons that are still able to support me, thank you so very much. For those that had to move on, I totally understand, and thank you for the time you were able to help. I've included your names in the thank you to this video.

Math can often feel like it has no immediate payoff. Today, I discuss, somewhat philosophically, how to address this problem

So, this video is a bit late; I got arm surgery, and have had to take some time off. Things are better now, though, and I'll be out of this sling soon!

Over the past few years, I have gotten an enormous amount of value, personally as a creator, from the vast community of content creators making Blender tutorials. My goals with the software relate to using it for making math education videos for the Taylor Series (and a few other unrelated creative projects).
Well, I'd like to give something back!

But I can odd! (I promise, someday, these jokes, they will be funny. Someday.)
Today, you'll learn about Set Builder Notation. But what is it? Well, Set Builder notation is a great way to capture a very technical and precise mathematical idea in what feels like shorthand, which is why I like using it (Yay efficiency!). But as with any shorthand, it can be dense, so I wanted to clarify some details surrounding it. There is a LOT to know regarding that notation, so I cover just the basics.
