Today I keep it simple by bending and soldering a simple Lower Lingual arch (Some call it a Lower Lingual Holding arch). Theses are a basic appliances made for Orthodontist and Pediatric Dentists all the time. These appliances are used to to hold the spaces in the lower arch while primary teeth are lost and the adult teeth erupt. This appliance will prevent the lower molars drifting forward when a primary molar has been lost too soon. Today a have a hand full of retainers to go out today. They all have labial acrylic! I have a love/hate relationship with labial acrylic (mostly hate) They add an extra level of complexity and time to a retainer. Even when it comes to trimming, sometimes it takes almost as long to trim the labial acrylic as it does for the acrylic plate! but Im particular with the look and shape of it, so that takes time. But in the end I do enjoy an nice trimmed an polished labial Acrylic.
