This is a video Jacob and Jordan Smith are demonstrating how to hand wash a car. This is a basic process, but many cars are scratched due to improper washing.
Here Are A Few Step To Help Prevent Scratching and Damaging The Paint:
1. Always wash the wash mitt and bucket before washing the car.
2. Rinse the car first to remove much of the dirt.
3. Wash jambs first to prevent smearing grime on the clean surface. And use a different mitt and bucket for this process.
4. Some people prefer to clean the interior last, but if you do this first, you will not risk getting dirt landing on the clean paint surface.
6. Start and top and work towards the bottom.
7. Use low pressure during you final rinse stage. This will allow the water to bead up and roll of resulting in less drying.
8. Dry the car.
This is just a few basic steps, but will prevent you from dragging dirt on the paint surface with our mitt causing scratched or swirl marks in the paint finish.
http://CollisionBlast.com - - In this video we are going to learn some tips for block sanding when using Motor Guard's new A -- 3 blocking kit.. The new blocking kit by motor guard works well for blocking all types of surfaces. The kit provides different blocks rigid and flexible for the different shapes of contours and surfaces that you will be sanding on. When blocking it's important to cross sand the surface, as it will provide a level surface and help feather edge all filler edges to a smooth transition from filler to the metal. Another thing you want to do when block sanding it to use long blocking strokes. This will prevent a choppy wavy appearance that may be seen after painting the surface.
This kit also comes with a new flexible pad that works real well around corners by allowing the block to wrap completely around the corner to properly sand the repair area. If you have not tried this blocking kit I encourage you to give it a try. I think that you will really like the blocks and how it fits the different contours on a vehicle body.
Step-By Step Directions
Step 1 -- after applying the body filler use 36 grit sandpaper to shape the body filler. This step can be done before the body filler is completely cured to speed up the process. P
Step 2 - apply guide coat to the repair area to help identify highs and lows.
Step 3 -- block sand the filler using 80 grit sandpaper to remove the 36 great . Remember when sanding body filler or primer to always use cross a sanding technique. This will help level the surface and feather all edges smooth
Step 4 - once the 36 great scratches have been removed reapply guide coat and block sand using 150 grit sand paper.
Step 5 - now that the scratches that have been blocked out with 150, you are not now ready to properly clean the surface, mask the surface, and apply primer.
Step 6 - once the primer has completely dried, block sand the primer using 320 grit sand paper. Be sure to apply guide coat before blocking to help you identify the highs and lows.
Step 7 -- once you have block sanded the surface with 320 grit sandpaper and it looks good, final sand the repair area and any area that paint will be applied with 500 grit sand paper.
Now you are ready to move on to the painting process.

http://CollisionBlast.com - 3M Auto Boot Camp New Product Update - Hookit Card E-Coat Disc 30695 - Donnie Smith here, in this video I'm going to show you a new 3M product. I recently returned from 3M headquarters from their 3M auto boot camp. While there I had the opportunity to learn about many of their new automotive products. This video is specifically about a new sandpaper. E-coat is becoming very difficult to sand, as they it is a much harder product. Therefore, regular sandpaper is wearing out before properly scuffing the panel. If not properly scuffed, could lead to paint failure resulting in peeling coatings. Introducing 3M hard E-coat discs. This is a new products designed specifically to sand these difficult hard surfaces. The new sandpaper will not give out as the older sandpaper. What was taking you 6-8 disks can now be done with one on E-coats and ceramic clears. If you are having troubles with this I encourage you to check this out.

Plastic repair made easy. That's right, Motor Guard's new tool, Magna Stitcher, plastic repair kit has made repairing plastic parts much easier.
This is a new tool I saw at SEMA 2011 that I found interesting. The Magna
Stitcher is designed to reinforce and repair the back side of ripped, torn, or cracked plastic in a matter of minutes.

http://CollisionBlast.com - - This video demonstrates how to sand the painted surface before buffing. You may have heard of this as cut and polish. The purpose of polishing paint is to remove imperfections after painting. If there is dirt, runs, orange peel, dry spray, etc. the surface needs to be sanded level. Then we can move to Part 2, which is polishing the surface to bring the depth and luster back.
Color sanding and buffing may also be done on show cars to produce a flawless appearance. Buffing can also bring the shine back to a faded paint job as well.
