I love their new album "Sorceress" and this is one of my favourites. I had the last 3 days off and took the time to finally finish this song. I already recorded the first tracks a few hours after the song had been released on Youtube but didn't have enough time then.
Orginally from Deep Purple's "Stormbringer" LP (1974). Covered by Opeth on their "Ghost Reveries" LP (2005). Drums were not filmed this time. Camera was not running and I did not want to record it again.
So i'm thinking about moving from Youtube to LBRY. I don't have any monetized content on Youtube thus far.
Lyrics:
I have often told you stories
About the way
I lived the life of a drifter
Waiting for the day
When I'd take your hand
And sing you songs
Then maybe you would say
Come lay with me love me
And I would surely stay
Now I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill goin' 'round
I guess I will always be
A soldier of fortune
Many times I've been a traveller
I looked for something new
In days of old
When nights were cold
I wandered without you
Those days my eyes I thought
Had seen you standing near
Though blindness is confusing
It shows that you're not here
But I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill goin' 'round
I guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune
Yes, I can hear the sound
Of a windmill goin' 'round
I guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune
