Inside the US Factories Breaking Quarantine
Mexican authorities had closed foreign factories after hundreds of COVID cases had been discovered within their walls. But only three weeks since their closure, the gates were busted wide-open as the Baja California state government succumbed to pressure from the US federal government and US companies. On May 1st, thousands of workers returned to work with a suite of new restrictions meant to protect the workers. Workers now need to wear face masks, need to apply hand sanitizer every-time they enter, stand 6-feet apart, and so on.
The moment I heard about this, I decided to check it out and see if these companies were actually following these labor protections.

Here’s an uncontroversial statement, Avatar is a progressive show. From the very first episode we’re introduced to a world that doesn’t shield the viewer from the realities of war, genocide, sexism and racism. Entire episodes are dedicated to portraying refugees and the poor in a kind a light, and it doesn’t pull any punches when delivering its message about anti-war and anti-aggression. In fact, the entire final arc of the show is centered around Aang trying to find a peaceful end to the Fire Nation’s war of aggression, a war that’s a heavily implied metaphor for both the German’s in World War II as well as the United States’ wars to spread democracy.
But for all of its progressivism, the show has a few shortcomings when dealing with the topics of religion, the state and revolutionary rage.
