I found a Durian market in Kota Kinabalu, in the Sabah state of Borneo. This market was selling many different varieties, I opted for the cheapest one which was sweet and creamy. I really liked it and will certainly try some other varieties. I recommend this market, they have places to sit while eating, they give you free water, gloves and tissue to clean yourself after. Also there was a real buzz about the place as the locals shout "woaah" as each Durian is cut open. WHICH OTHER VARIETIES SHOULD I TRY? Istanbul has some amazing affordable street food, perfect for a budget traveler, but even if you aren't on a budget you should still try it as it's tasty and tourism always supports the locals businesses.
