I really really really want to finish this project but I've still waiting on a few parts so I'll do what I can for now. In this video I do a quick look around at the mounting and wiring I've done as well as sorting out the lcd and the dmg vinyl applied to a thin sheet of plexi. It's all starting to come together to look like a mini arcade cab but there's still lots of work ahead. See you guys next time when I hopefully have all the buttons wired and power supply sorted out.

So it has been a long time coming, my crappy alarm clock is just about on its last legs and it constantly resetting itself recently was the last spoon that broke the dog's face ... I think that's how the old saying goes. Anyway, ICStation kindly provided me with a few parts recently including a gorgeous serial 8x32 LED matrix (http://www.icstation.com/lattice-breakout-module-8x32-matrix-screen-ht1632c-p-6982.html) so I just knew it was finally time to program and build my own custom digital clock. In this video I show off the nearly completed prototype, with scrolly slick animation goodness to boot and only slightly cryptic user interface. In the next part I'll build a nice case for it (or maybe just leave it a skeleton clock) and solder a pcb to make it a permanent installation on my bedside nightstand. If you guys are possibly interested in me selling a kit of some sort around such a clock let me know and I'll look into making that a reality!

In the last video we did a teardown and analysis of this very interesting vintage clock but weren't able to fix it. I've since ordered a cheap 5V stepper motor from eBay and have rigged up a quick test with an arduino to see if it has what it takes to drive the clock. In the next part we'll design a 3D printed mount, work out the microcontroller hw and sw, and tie up the loose ends like wiring the whole clock to run off of a USB adapter.

I absolutely adore the tiny integrated alphanumeric and seven segment LED displays companies like HP, Avago and TI explored with some time around the 80s. Now these display can only be purchased as new-old stock or used and command ridiculous prices. I have seen other's making their own using discrete smd LEDs so I thought I'd give it a shot as well and see how well the idea would work to make my own custom LED displays. And with the experience I gained in writing multiplexing code for my word clock I feel this may grow into an interesting project. For now though let's assemble a first prototype, throw together some code and see how it looks.

Since the first part where I showed off my console and game collection back home did so well I thought I would show you guys my portables and gameboy games that I brought with me to school. Hopefully I don't bore you, but I take a trip down memory lane recounting how I ended up owning as well as memories of each item. Sorry for the soft focus problem for part of the video, my camera must've lost interest but it eventually worked itself out.
Also, recently I've been playing with editing software so I can make my videos a bit more polished than in the past, let me know what you like/dislike!

iPazzPort kindly sent in another of their wireless keyboards for review. I use these little wireless usb keyboards nearly everyday, for everything from navigating my android tv box to search content, to configuring raspberry pi's and even on occasion to control powerpoint presentations! So it's not exaggeration to say I absolutely love how useful they are. Well this guy is one of the cheapest I've seen and from a brand that I've been very happy using in the past so let's see if this $17 wireless keyboard earns its keep in my edc backpack.

Merry Christmas and/or happy holidays everyone!!! I just want to take the chance to thank all of my supporters who watch my videos, leave kind comments and use my affiliate links below. It's been an amazing year for my channel. Early 2017 I had just under 1000 subs and just as the year is closing I am coming up to 3000. From the bottom of my heart thank you all and I hope you have had a great year as well.
So with that out of the way, this video was a long time coming. I've finally installed custom firmware and upgraded the drive to 500gb on my 80gb 65nm phat ps3 that I bought used years ago so I figured this was the perfect time to go ahead and clean this never opened console. What horrors await me in my quest to eradicate all dust bunnies and replace the thermal paste on the cpu and gpu with some arctic silver? Am I in for a pleasure or in for a fright? Either way merry christmas to all and to all a good night!
