Starting in the middle of the park, we head along Wythenshawe Road, Palatine Road, Wlimslow Road (B5167) and take a left along Mauldeth Road West. We turn right to head north along Princess Road (A5103), we then turn left onto Claremont Road and the footage stops on Quinney Cresent, Moss Side.

The A6 at its chocolate-box best - and deadliest too. It forms the boundary of the Lake District with the ground to the nearside being in the National Park, although there is talk of extending the boundary as far as the M6 motorway which is a short distance to the east at a slightly lower altitude.
The farmhouse at the side of the road has played host to some famous faces over the years, after they have been dug out of the snow. Back in the day, the lorries would have used this bit to get a good run at the climb.
We've got a V8 engine so there's no need for heroics, especially at this time of the year. At [0:34] we change from 5th to 4th to give us that little extra torque but we are back in 5th well before we reach the summit - which by my reckoning is [2:08] into this footage.
Sometimes I have nightmares about Monza Red paint on the crash barriers on this bit of road.

Heading towards Shap from Kendal along the A6. Although the road has primary status from Kendal to junction 39, the road is very quiet, especially at this time of year and it has a delapidated feel about it - note the old roadsigns and the weeds growing by the roadside. The surface is somewhat greasy and we are in no rush.
