Seeburg SHP3 amplifier Part 2: Transistor matching and testing.(Has error- read description)
***There is a large error in this video. The 2N2222 was not the original Seeburg 309686 transistor. The 2N2222 is the common listed equivalent replacement, although it is not really equivalent.

In this video, I continue the repair of a Seeburg SHP3 amplifier. I describe and demonstrate the method I use to grade transistors and explain(poorly) why that is important in a pre-amp circuit. This method is used commonly used and easy. One would need and oscilloscope, a signal generator, a breadboard, some resistors and capacitors, and finally the transistors to be tested. It is essentially a single stage amplifier built around the transistor(s) to be tested. It can have a fixed bias, but requires a gain adjustment. Many examples of this type of circuit can be found on Google. I happen to use one from Mr. Carlson's Lab. It is easy and accurate. Schematics for this circuit can be found on the Mr. Carlson's Lab Patreon page.

Jameco Isolation Transformer delivered today with a dent on the primary side shield.
Note: Where I discuss making an isolation transformer from two identical transformers, I should have been a bit more specific. That method will not work with this type of transformer as the windings overlap each other. There are transformers where the coils are "stacked" on the core center with the primary on bottom and secondary on top. It is generally much easier and safer to buy a transformer that suites your needs.
The audio compression is slightly off. It isn't really noticed until the I probe the transformer.
I stated "this has a capacitor in it". I misspoke. It has a glass fuse on the secondary windings. Although, I guess it could have TPC hiding under the primary winding insulation.

Just a quick video showing the ability of the KRC-86B receiver board. This project was intended to semi permanently mount a Bluetooth into the internal case of the stereo so as not to have extra components to plug in. This was done with a 12V 3A SMPS, a buck converter(12V 3A reduced to 5V), a prototype or "perf" board, assorted wires and of course the KRC-86B Bluetooth 4.0 receiver board. Yes, the powers supply may have been over kill, but I was trying to dumb this process down so you don't have to be an engineer to install it, just careful and studious. The SMPS is connected to the buck converter, the buck converter supplies the 5V to the KRC board, and the KRC board is supplying the audio input to the CD input on the Kenwood(externally for now, but will be wired to the foil side of the board). I will also be adding a 250VAC switch to the ground side of the SMPS so I can turn off all the power to the Bluetooth system and eliminate any distortion while using the FM stereo. So far, I have not noticed the SMPS causing any interference with the FM signal receiver. I will post another video when it is finished.

Time for something fun! In this project, I take a pair of used Black Web PC speakers and install a KRC86B Bluetooth module. This will allow anyone in the house to connect to them with their mobile phone or tablet and blast some tunes. In this case, I have decided they need to go in the smallest room in the house. Any random set of PC speakers should work for this. If you are not comfortable stealing power from your speakers power supply, you could use a 5V USB charger, some creative wiring, and you are ready to shave with your favorite music drowning out the constant whine of people beating down the door, trying to bust your groove. In this video, we take a look at a common source of heat, as well as occasional harbinger fire and smoke related death. The milk house style space heater. If you choose to use one of these, as I have for decades, you know they can be a decent portable option for heat. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone for the sole purpose of heating any space for more than a few hours at a time, but to each their own. I stopped using this one last winter as it was starting and stopping rather quickly. Spoiler: it's the thermostat. I think I am just going to put the chassis to better use, but I don't really know what kind of project I want to use it for yet. Seems like a waste to throw away a perfectly good metal box. Also, there are some good uses for the fan and Ni-chrome element I can think of. Maybe I can stuff a signal tracer in here? Meh... we'll see. I slapped a schematic segment on at the end.
