When I was researching swollen batteries for my iPhone5, I saw articles on swollen laptop batteries and realised my laptop may have a swollen battery too. Step 1 was to remove the battery, which I figured would be fairly straightforward, but turned out to be more fiddly than expected as I was working out the best plan of action. After eventually accessing the obviously swollen battery, I ordered a new one and the installation and reassembly was less of an issue, and I now have a safe laptop again.
