Call of Duty 3 was a launch game for the PS3, and Treyarch's second game in the series behind Big Red One on the PS2/Xbox/GCN. As a launch game, this game also pre-dates trophy support. As you may remember, Trophies were added later as a response the the 360's super popular Achievements system.
As a game itself, it's not bad, not great, even amongst pre-Modern Warfare Cod games. It's online was fun, but this series, while always popular, didn't hit the stratosphere in popularity till CoD4. If Call of Duty canon starts for you at CoD4 and above, this is a decent early effort in the series, and a good launch title for the PS3, even if I like CoD 2 on the 360 a lot better. Solid effort though. (I do hate the forced sixaxis controls though). ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woxNhwV15b0
So, in 2018,m I created a side channel called Station Geek, a channel devoted to Playstation system games. Mostly PS1 and PS2, but was going to include PS3. My plan was to upload monthly videos on that channel as practice to get better at making vids on my main channel, and to maintain the discipline of trying to create and make more videos. Well, life happened, and I have not been able to upload videos on any channel on a regular basis.
I decided to bring the two videos I made for Station Geek, and bring them over to my main channel so my regular subscribers can view them. Hope you enjoy.

Also available on the Gamecube and Xbox, Freaky Flyers takes the flying portions of Diddy Kong Racing and splits them off into their own unique game, with a cartoon style that reminds me of Whacked on the Xbox, and has more to do in the races than just kart racing. This was a $2 thrift store find for me, and one that I was pleasantly surprised with.
As you can see, the game goes beyond just racing by adding objectives to accomplish throughout each course that either give you a new weapon slot, or open up boost rings. The levels are big, and there are a lot of hidden areas to find. In the adventure mode, you will also be tasked with alternate missions, like Bandito attack.
This is a really nice surprise, and a fun game that is worth picking up if you have the chance. Again, dare I say it again, Midway was on fire during the 6th gen, and most of their games are excellent.

I wrote this years ago for an old Blog-Fanzine I used to run on Gamepro.com called 2.5D. I would pester other members of the forums to give me submissions as well, and combine their, and my writings into a blogzine format.
I decided to make this one into a video. I'm just messing around here, and don't consider myself to be humorous. I like goofing around.

This is a comparison vid of the Snes and Sega Genesis versions of Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure. Please keep in mind that I never had these games when I was a kid, so if I play like a noob, it's because I am. Either version is a tough game to learn at first, and I've only had either version for a few months.
To be honest, I think the Genesis version feels a little better to play. Especially with the 6-button controller in hand. With the 3-button controller, switching between the items is a little clunky. Snes version also controls well, but I had some jumping issues in the game. Both control pretty well, but I may just be more comfortable with the 6-button Genesis pad.
The Snes version runs faster, and has bigger, more zoomed in sprites. The Genesis version has more lively backgrounds, and it's the port that's most like all the other ports of the game. The Snes version get points for being a little different from the other ports in looks.
From a music standpoint, I'd have to give it to the Genesis version as well. The Snes music doesn't sound as good to me, but in reality, it's mostly subjective. Whatever version you grew up with is probably the one with the better sound to you.
So from a personal standpoint, the Snes has the faster play, bigger sprites, and more colors. However, I liked the way the Genesis version played better, but that's just me. Either version is worth playing.
NOTE: This footage was taken off of the original consoles. I am not using a crappy emulator to compare the games.

This is some gameplay footage of ATV Racers ont he PS1 as played on a PS2 with texture smoothing on.
This was made by the same guys who made Miracle Space Race, and like MSR, it's merely OK. It's not a game that I would pay a lot of money for. i got it in a big PS1 game lot from ebay, and it's one that's relatively unspectacular, but playable, and even a little enjoyable.
The controls are tough, the courses, are too narrow, the AI is unforgiving if you make a mistake (I'm playing this on normal), and the biggest problem is that there are only 9 courses in the game, but of the nine they are three different variations of three courses, so though there are 9 different courses, it feels like three. There is also no split screen play, meaning it's very limited on replay value.
The music is decent, but not as good as in Miracle Space Race either.
Overall, it's fun if you can find it for a cheap price, but will only appeal to forgiving gamers, or those who are willing to take it for what it is. This again, won't be turning anyone away from Mario Kart, or Crash Team Racing.

This is a thrift store find that surprised me as being a fun and competent little shooter. It's obviously geared towards kids, but this comes from Travelers Tails, and has the same addictive collect stuff to buy upgrades formula that LEGO Star Wars has.
Honestly, for a game geared toward kids, this is fun, and has a unique character switching system, mixed with that addictive collecting formula. Not everything is perfect, but this is solid, and I had fun with my time playing just the first two levels.
The Grphics are decent, and the PS2 version even has widescreen support which is why this footage was recorded in 16:9. The controls are tank-controls which may put some people off, but if you hold R2, you can sidestep, so it's reminiscent of perhaps a 3rd person shooter in the PS1 era.
That being said, looking up the reviews for this game, I am scratching my head. I know that Bionicle is a line and has it's own books an lore, but why would a gamespot review (giving it a 4/10) mention plot holes? Like really? who gives a flying **** about plot holes in a simple shooter that is geared towards kids? -Face palm-
Seriously, unless the game is broken later on in the gameplay, I would say any "professional" review that gave this game anything lower than a 7 is not worth listening to. I can't speak for the Xbox 360, Gamecube, PC, or Wii versions of this game, but seriously, this isn't a 4 or 5 out of ten game, this is a game that has fun, and playable elements. It's not spectacular in any way, but it is fun, and at least from what I have played so far, not broken.
As I look back, and read reviews published in the years gone by I start to see that a lot of the gaming media was out of touch, and had no idea what even made a game good. Seriously PLOT HOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm guessing they only played a couple of levels and wrote a review for the game, because it wasn't a high profile release, so why bother playing more, plus, they probably couldn't beat the game anyway. I'd tell them to do better, but we all know they won't.

To see my "Let's Play" Spoof on this game go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooaqeaLGBm4 I, apparently pissed some people off with this one, because they didn't get the joke. "Wasn't the Snezz the system that ran Mario 64?"
Unscripted, I ramble a bit I say "you know" way too much. I also forgot to mention circle strafing in the Saturn version as well. And for the footage, I completely spaced one of the secrets.
But this is sort of an unscripted review, or unscripted thoughts on the Snes port of Doom, which despite it's flaws is one of those remarkable ports done on a console that shouldn't have been able to handle it at all.
I recently did an unscripted Let's Play Spoof of this game seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooaqeaLGBm4

This is the tenth level, and second scene of the North Africa campaign in Call of Duty: Finest Hour on the PS2.
As the name may suggest, you have to sabotage the fuel depot through explosive ordinances, and you also have to take out three tanks along the way while fighting to the depot.
