Subscribe to the channel at https://goo.gl/VjHw6T At a time when the Republican part is fighting to keep every seat in Congress, another seat vacancy has opened up.
While the move was expected, however, the timing was not – Rep. Ron DeSantis, who represents Florida’s sixth congressional district, resigned this morning. DeSantis is currently running for governor of Florida, and his stepping away from his House seat now to focus on his campaign.
He made the resignation announcement in a letter posted to Twitter, which was directed to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI)
DeSantis asked that his resignation be retroactive to September 1, so government funds would not be used to pay him for his work so far this month.

Senate Republicans are making an aggressive play to ward off primary challenges in 2020, digging in behind embattled Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and showing the GOP base that they are fighting on behalf of President Donald Trump’s court pick.
At least 21 Republican senators will be up for reelection in 2020 — including GOP leader Mitch McConnell — and the first step toward keeping their seats with Trump atop the ticket is avoiding a Trump-fueled primary challenge. Many of them, save for Maine moderate Susan Collins, are among Kavanaugh’s staunchest defenders against what they deem a “smear campaign” of sexual assault allegations and inspection of Kavanaugh’s drinking habits.
These senators, many of whom won for the first time in 2014, say they are merely reflecting the intensity of conservative voters who are outraged at what they view as Kavanaugh’s unfair treatment by liberal Democrats and the media. While many will face token challengers at a minimum, the key is to make sure they are aligned with Trump on key issues — and perhaps nothing is bigger going into the next election cycle than defending Trump’s beleaguered nominee.
“I’ve long believed that we not only need to win fights here, but we need to be seen fighting. That’s important,” said Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), who added he’s planning to run for reelection but expects a primary opponent.

The Japanese 21st seed, a finalist at Flushing Meadows in 2014 and a semi-finalist in 2016, fired 29 winners to end the run of Germany’s Kohlschreiber, who had beaten fourth seed Alexander Zverev in the previous round.
Nishikori appeared to be racing toward an easy win before Kohlschreiber unexpectedly broke the 28-year-old to level the third set at 5-5.

Whoopi Goldberg seems to know everything about this leftist professor who is aligned with the Democratic Party in an apparent witch hunt to destroy Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Goldberg hammered anyone who questioned the motivation of Senator Dianne Feinstein and anyone who questions the veracity of this accuser, Christine Blasey Ford. Goldberg spewed a pack of political lies. Well, fed-up patriots slammed Whoopi with a nasty surprise she won’t soon forget.
Christine Blasey Ford’s timing, coming out with the horrendous allegations against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, is not only suspect, but the allegations are also reminiscent of one Anita Hill. At the eleventh hour, Hill came forward with ridiculous sexual allegations against then-SCOTUS nominee Clarence Thomas. Of course, Thomas stayed the course and exposed Hill and her Democratic cohorts for what they really were — liars hoping to derail his appointment.
Now, we have Whoopi Goldberg off the hook on The View Monday morning. She’s a propagandist for all things anti-Trump and pro-Democrat, and the so-called conservative sitting next to her, Abby Huntsman, is like an empty chair.
With zero evidence nor any heard testimony, Goldberg took Ford’s allegation that Kavanaugh supposedly pinned her to a bed during a house party in Maryland in the early 1980s, attempting to remove her clothes and putting his hand over her mouth when she tried to scream, as fact. Goldberg speaks as if this is a settled case and Kavanaugh has been found guilty in a court of law. This is wrong on so many levels.
Then, Whoopi got up on her moral high horse, speaking with, of all people, Senator Chuck Schumer, saying, “John Conyers, Al Franken, did much less than this, and they’re gone. And, so, my feeling is what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”

Subscribe to the channel at https://goo.gl/VjHw6T When former “Dirty Jobs” host and all-around working class advocate Mike Rowe was asked about his thoughts on Nike’s latest ad campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick, he had one answer that almost no American could disagree with:
Rowe said that he would have featured Tom Burnett instead — one of the brave passengers aboard Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001.
As most of the Western world knows by now, Nike’s ad features Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, and the words, “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.”
The campaign has caused a firestorm of criticism because of Kaepernick’s role in starting the trend of NFL players protesting the national anthem, which is now entering its third season.

Subscribe to the channel at https://goo.gl/VjHw6T Few things tug at my heart more than watching the children of fallen warriors honoring their departed mothers and fathers who gave all they had so we could be free. Gold Star wives are among the strongest women on Earth. They are also some of the most outspoken which is not surprising… heroes with incredible bravery tend to marry women cut from the same cloth.
Remember Gold Star wife Brittany Jacobs? You should. On Memorial Day this year, President Trump shared a story about a seven-year-old boy who he met at Arlington National Cemetery last year. That little boy is Christian Jacobs and his mother is Brittany Jacobs.
The pictures of President Trump hugging little Christian went uber-viral and I still haven’t forgotten them. Trump said, “Christian walked over to me with great confidence, shook my hand, looked me straight in the eye, and asked if I would like to meet his dad. He loved his dad. Marine sergeant Christopher Jacobs who died when Christian was just eight months old.”
If that doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, I don’t know what will. Christian’s father, Marine Sgt. Christopher Jacobs died during military training exercises in California in 2011.

Donald Trump has tweeted a lot of horrible things as president, ranging from racist dog whistles to threats of outright war. It’s become almost passé to remark on them. The world has sadly come to expect the President of the United States to tweet like a cruel, bigoted bully and chooses to tune out the vast majority of his inane digital scribblings.
But today he blasted out a message to his 54 million followers that, without any trace of hyperbole, can easily be called his worst tweet to date.
Trump took to Twitter and denied that 3,000 people died from the hurricanes that ravaged Puerto Rico last fall. The official estimate of deaths is just shy of 3,000, with many attributing the tragic death toll to the Trump administration’s botched, understaffed, and underfunded preparation and subsequent relief efforts.
On Tuesday, Trump drew flak for calling his administration’s efforts in Puerto Rico “incredibly successful.” Now, he’s taken his gaslighting to a heinous new low, by claiming that when he visited the island, the death estimate was between 6 and 18.
Trump claimed that a “long time” later the estimate turned into “really large like numbers like 3000.” He blamed Democrats for inflating the numbers to make him “look bad” and said it’s “bad politics.”
