Intervals are of absolute importance to understand and then, to recognize on your instrument of choice. Why this is so will only be understood later on when the more dense/intense music theory starts showing up. Note: When I was talking about 5ths, I said F to B is that odd interval. I MEANT to say F to C which is 5 steps and that too is a perfect 5th. B going UP to F is the "odd 5th." I make a lot of errors in my speaking sometimes. pardon that.

Minor 3rd to Major 3rd is the one little piece that does everything you need to sound authentically 'bluesy.' Here, I go into a quick note about IV7 to I7 and how it relates to this particular Blues convention. Also, I discuss the idea that in order to get a more sophisticated Blues sound going, you cannot merely go by a global pentatonic scale and that's that. You have to pay mind to each chord in a Blues progression and deal with it in a bluesy way. At the end, I discuss the 12 major triad shapes on the guitar and offer up a chart and an exercise to develop an eye for seeing the roots, 3rds and 5ths of a chord...anywhere on the neck of the guitar.
