Cianwood City’s gym has boulders that require Strength to move. After battle a few Black Belts, you’ll take on the gym leader. Chuck uses Fighting type Pokémon. Primeape will use Karate Chop to make hits turn critical often. Poliwrath will use a 3-way combo by using Hypnosis, Mind Reader, and Dynamicpunch. After winning, you’ll receive the Storm Badge and a TM01 (Dynamicpunch). Dynamicpunch is inaccurate but it will cause massive damage and confuse the target if it strikes.

At the start, make your way around the railings to pass by a Boo circle and you’ll find the first Yoshi Coin. Press the P Switch to turn a hard block into a coin and use the spring to bounce over a Big Boo. Enter the door and pass by another Boo circle. When you see a P Switch, scale the ledges to find the 2nd Yoshi Coin. Press the P Switch and hit a block over the door to reveal a vine. Climb the vine and duck under where a coin is in a tight space to find the 3rd Yoshi Coin. When the P Switch tune sounds, enter the door above a trio of ? Blocks and turn left to find the 4th Yoshi Coin. Enter the door at the left end of the room and get the 5th Yoshi Coin in the starting room. Return to the spot where you found the P Switch and press the switch again to reveal a white door where coins formed. Enter the white door and you’ll find the goal.

Saffron City’s gym is just like before where you use warp panels to go to another room. Once you navigate the panels, you’ll reach the gym leader. Sabrina uses Psychic type Pokémon. When Mr. Mime uses Barrier, it can use Baton Pass to keep the defenses to the next opponent sent out. Furthermore, Alakazam will use Reflect to make the defenses even more impossible. Saffron City has a Fighting Dojo next door left from the gym where you can battle some Black Belts. After defeating the Black Belts, you’ll take on the Karate Master. Hitmonlee will use Foresight to make Ghost types vulnerable and Hi Jump Kick for big damage but hurts the user if it misses. Hitmonchan will use Sky Uppercut on those who try to use Fly and all 3 elemental punching moves. After the battle, you can choose any of the 2 Poké Balls backstage. One holds Hitmonlee and the other holds Hitmonchan. You can only choose one so pick the one you want best.

A hole acts as an abyss and will try to pull you in, so you’ll have to swim harder to avoid being pulled down. Be sure to collect some coins as you swim by. At the end, use the pipe to return to the surface and cross the big stairway to reach the flagpole.

The gym at Nimbasa City is new with some Beauty trainers coming from the stage. After you battle some of them, you’ll next battle the gym leader. Elesa uses Electric type Pokémon. Emolga will use Quick Attack for first strikes and Pursuit to do double damage to anyone trying to switch out. Flaaffy will use Thunder Wave to paralyze opponents and Electro Ball to do more damage if faster than the foe. Zebstrika will use Flame Charge to raise its Speed stat. After the battle, you’ll receive the Bolt Badge and a TM72 (Volt Switch). When Volt Switch strikes, the user switches out for another Pokémon.

Blaine is one of the Kanto Leaders in the Pokémon World Tournament that can be battled in either the Kanto Leaders or World Leaders Tournaments. Blaine is skilled in using Fire type Pokémon. Arcanine will use Flare Blitz for big damage although hurting itself in the process and Extremespeed to strike first. Ninetales will use Hypnosis to put opponents to sleep and Nasty Plot to power up. Charizard will use Hone Claws to make itself more accurate, Inferno to burn an opponent, and Dragon Rush with a Dragon Gem powering it up.
