Tashichho Dzong, also known as “the fortress of the glorious religion”, was initially constructed in 1641, and restored by the Third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck in the 1960’s. It houses some ministries, His Majesty’s secretariat and the central monk body.
I took this photo during my journey in Bhutan. In the next few days, I will be posting a series of photos which I think truly represent Bhutan`s culture.
Lipica Stud Farm has been established in 1580 and is thus the oldest stud farm with continuous horse breeding in the world. At first they were mostly bred for military purposes. These strong and lithe horses were crossbred with Spanish, Italian and Arab horses and in 200 years the Lipizzaner breed, which is nowadays renowned worldwide, was formed.
