Martin Rae, president, Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, will be bringing to PAX East a speaker from the 2012 D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit stage. Martin will begin with a short introduction about the history of the conference. Richard Hilleman, chief creative director, Electronic Arts, will follow with his session titled: "Games as a Language" and will share how a Hippy, a Chinese World Champion, a New Hampshire Engineer, and two Nobel Prize winners invented the modern video games business, by accident.
Panelists: Martin Rae [President, Academy of Ineractive Arts and Science], Richard Hilleman [Electronic Arts, Chief Creative Director]
Editor's note: The clip at the begin had music played over the start of the panel, I was able to recover as much of it as I could.
Crowdfunding a project with Kickstarter is the solution for game design teams that can’t get traditional funding. Running a successful Kickstarter campaign requires more than just posting a good idea and hoping people notice. This panel will talk about the aspects of successful Kickstarter projects including video production, crafting the message, leveraging social networks, and using tools like Google and Facebook to maximize the funding raised. Learn about how to model the budget of your Kickstarter to ensure that you can deliver the rewards you promise and still hit your funding objectives. You’ll also learn important things NOT to do - mistakes that could seriously harm your project and your reputation.

This is a supercut of the Geeknights coverage from PAX 2008. This was done over the span of 3 episodes, we trimmed out all of the meta and other items so that this recording is just them talking about the event. The episodes are from 9/02 to 9/23 on the Tuesday feed if you wish to hear it in its entirety.

PAX attendees like you have already beaten the pros during GameSpot panels, but do you think you have what it takes to beat developers at their own games? These folks don’t just know their way around the same maps that you do; they designed them. They don’t just memorize the same combos that you do; they programmed them. Demolish a developer and you’ll walk away with a prize. Get demolished by a developer and maybe you’ll get a sympathetic golf clap.

Presented at many conventions since 2002, from Otakon to Anime Boston, GeekNights finally videoed their advice on how to run an anime club. Some things have changed over the years (you don't need LaserDisc player or VHS library anymore), but most things haven't (dealing with "that guy"). Here is the brutal, honest truth on what it takes to run an anime club.

Mythology at large is the very essence and timeless story of humanity. The advent of the modern video game has undoubtedly reinvigorated the phenomenon of the myth, granting new life and form to well-known legends of old as well as enabling the interactive telling of new digital myths. In this panel, we will discuss how myths and legends live in the digital tapestry of games, discuss some well-known examples of how classical mythology has been reinterpreted as interactive digital games, and we even boldly and happily claim what gamers at large have intrinsically known all along—that games may very well be the future shape of myth in the digital age.
