Had a visit from a cicada and 3 skinks. Further preparation for the laundry reno, and finally replacing the rusted out base of the trailer. Wife made a suggestion to replace the metal with timber decking, like you see on some trucks. We had some that she found on FB, but it got used for something else, so I scrounged up some reclaimed treated pine that will do the trick.
Yes, I grind and weld in a t-shirt & ripped jeans. I'll be fine.
Long-ish vlog at the end as I talk out my thoughts on what I need to do. Thanks for watching.
After the shed slab had cured, I stripped back the formwork and reassembled the shed that my wife had found 2nd hand last year.
Putting together a prefab shed without instructions is an interesting exercise, trying to make use of any rivet holes that are already there, wherever possible.
This is a long video, but it was a long process. A bit of vlogging in between action.
Thanks for watching.

Having had a number of trees removed in my yard, I want to experiment with some of the timber.
This is the first of those, making a rustic stool from an angophora log cookie and 3 lengths of branch, attaching the legs by turning round tenons on one end.
The trees were only taken down a couple of months ago so are quite wet still, so it will be interesting to see how the timber dries out and the effects on the stool.
Incidentally, the electric chainsaw I used I had found on the side of the road during the week that someone was throwing out. The bar and chain were removed and blunt, but after a clean up, test and sharpen, it has proven to be a very good find.

Changing the fuel filter is a mixed blessing job. It's good to get done, but often a tricky (read messy) job for a DIYer to do. This was not my best or cleanest attempt, even though it did get done in the end.

Sydney's Brick Pit is located in the Homebush Olympic Park area. Responsible for the quarrying and production of the majority of the bricks that helped to build Sydney in the early 1900's, the brick pit was preserved as a historic site and wetlands nature reserve during the construction of the Olympic village for the 2000 Olympics.
A suspended steel and concrete walkway was constructed for people to see the brick pit as it was left after it closed, and to learn about it's history. My school has taken excursions there for a few years and this was the first time I had ever been to it.

ANZAC Day was very different this year.
With COVID19 keeping people physically isolated, the traditional parades of war veterans were unable to be held. I would usually watch the Sydney parade on TV, looking for the regiments or battalions that my relatives were in.
This year, people were asked to stand at their driveways at dawn (6am) to show their respect. I decided to stand at my back deck as it faces east, and watch the dawn break as I remembered those that fought and died or survived for our and other countries during times of war.
I could hear some of my neighbours out at their driveways, but standing in silence, listening to the sound of the Blue Mountains at dawn, was very peaceful, and a fitting way to remember our veterans.
Lest we forget.

Not happy with dealing with a heavy tailgate, I bought a set of tailgate assist struts for my LDV T60. They are very easy to install with 2 tools.
I ordered these from OCAM4x4 and had them shipped to my house.

A short update. It’s the last day of term, and a weird day having had a public holiday the day before. I’ve removed my neck brace to try and strengthen my neck.
I’ve also bought myself a wireless microphone. What do you think? It feels weird not hearing the truck as I’m talking. Is that a good or bad thing?
