Kerbal Space Program - Interstellar Quest - Episode 23 - The Laws of Aerodynamics Have Changed
The Duna Express (name to be determined) is taking shape, but not without incident, in particular, as I upgrade the mods supporting the series things change, sometimes in dramatic, destructive ways.
What a day, what a lovely day! Riding eternal and all that right?
Starman is indeed waiting in the sky, and he did blow our minds.
Everything I can tell you about yesterdays Falcon Heavy launch.
For extra bonus points - the orbit may be unstable on the order of thousands of years

We see lots of video from mission control during ISS operations and at the front of the room there are big screens displaying things which are important to all the controllers. One of the most prominent displays is the map which shows the location of the ISS & other spacecraft as well as a bunch of cryptic, wavy lines.
So, let's explain what all these mean and why they're important to the control room staff when operating the most complicated machine ever flown.

Scotland has just approved the development of a vertical launch facility in Sutherland on the north coast, and there are 2 companies based in Scotland currently developing launch vehicles.
Orbex is developing an 18 ton launcher with 225kg payload, Fueled by LOX & Propane
Skyrora have plans for a 55 ton vehicle with 315kg payload, burning Hydrogen peroxide & Kerosene.
There's a good chance we'll see some launches in 2021, and possibly commercia payloads in 2022.

In honour of Shark Week I try to build a flying shark in KSP. THen we took it to minmus to feast. Sadly, its fins were burned off during reentry and it returned to the sea.
Later I took a look at a couple of other new games:
Spectra, a game built around Chipzel's album of the same title.

And Defect "Spaceship Destruction Kit" a 2d ship building and destroying game which has just appeared on steam: http://sdkgame.com/

In the movie Interstellar time dilation is core to the story, so I thought I'd make a little explanation showing how time dilation naturally falls out of the fact that all observers see light moving at the same speed. Now, the full explanation with general relativity and everything else is a lot more complicated, but, it does all work!

Ever play one of those FPS shooters where you had to hit 'R' to reload?
If so that probably makes you the equivalent of those autopilot using scumbags!
You might as well be using an aimbot right?
How about a real FPS where you need to operate every single aspect of the gun, nobody would question the 'leetness' of your skills then!
Receiver is developed by Wolfire games, originally as part of a 7 day FPS game jam, it's clearly an experimental game putting the guns that are so popular in mainstream games front and center and mixing in some non-linear storytelling elements.

One year after the launch of Beresheet we've not had much information from official sources about how exactly the spacecraft failed leading to its crash into the lunar surface. However a new article on an Israeli news site by an individual close to the project offers up a few bits of information which weren't previously in the public sphere. The article is in Hebrew, but the google translation is pretty good and has been confirmed by individuals who understand the language.

However we still don't have the level of detail on the operation of the computer, its software extensions and the process for starting the main engine, so there may be more to find out in the future.

Following up to my previous tutorial for new pilots, this covers the construction of a rocket and lander that can go to another world. I get a lot of requests for a beginners guide to landing on the Mun, but for rookie pilots I strongly suggest heading to Minmus instead. Although it's a smaller target and requires more maneuvering in space to get there you can perform these maneuvers without risking the entire missions if you make a mistake. The target itself has lower gravity than the Mun so landing is more forgiving, and it also has nice flat areas to make the landing easy. Finally, because of the lower fuel requirements you can use a smaller rocket so launch is easier.
This tutorial covers:
Building a rocket capable of the mission.
Getting to Orbit
Transferring to the target body
Entering Orbit
Landing
Return
