Last [Friday’s shootings in Christchurch](https://www.oye.news/news/shootings/breaking-man-opens-fire-on-a-tram-in-the-dutch-city-of-utrecht/), New Zealand which ended with 50 dead and just as many injured have rung the global bell on a call for tougher media censorship.
Yesterday an open letter from Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, who is the head of Counter-Terrorism Policing in the UK was published on the counter-terrorism website.
Basu’s letter is a plea for the UK Government to recognise the threat that the free flow of information can have on a nation and to do something about it.
Basu points out the ironic fact that *“the same media companies who have lambasted social media platforms for not acting fast enough to remove extremist content are simultaneously publishing uncensored Daesh propaganda on their websites, or make the rambling ‘manifestos’ of crazed killers available for download.”*
He said extremist propaganda that might reach tens of thousands of people through their own channels or networks has the potential to reach tens of millions if a national newspaper published it.
He goes onto say in summary that:
> ‘Society needs to look carefully at itself. We cannot simply hide behind the mantra of freedom of speech. That freedom is not an absolute right, it is not the freedom to cause harm – that is why our hate speech legislation exists.’ [source](https://www.counterterrorism.police.uk/acso-neil-basu-issues-open-letter-about-reporting-of-terrorism/)
Basu continually refers to this dangerous information that the UK’s media is publishing as Terrorist propaganda, which he claims inspires other potential terrorists into action, he bases this assessment from the statements of terrorists his team have interviewed over the years.
I think it is undeniable that information can be dangerous, it can reinforce beliefs and prejudices, it can raise one’s emotions causing anger and fear. This is true whether the information is accurate or not. Information which has been designed to produce a specific public emotional response, propaganda, is even more dangerous – But, it’s not the root of the problem, it merely accelerates an exceptionally small minority of people to do what they were inevitably going to do anyway.
Censoring our media is a far more dangerous path to take, with dire consequences. A government which controls its media and dictates the flow of information is a Government who has a self-perpetuating power and thus unbreakable control over its people.
While we have been condemning dictatorships across the World for decades with the oppression they place upon their people through censorship and their own propaganda we are voluntarily begging for it ourselves, a little bit at a time.

US President Donald Trump may have stepped back from the idea of military action against Iran, but this has not stopped the US from beginning a cyber attack on the nation, [RT News reports](https://www.rt.com/news/462486-us-cyber-attack-iran/):
> *President Trump approved the cyber offensive against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Washington Post reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Although the attack came after Iran had shot down an American surveillance drone, it had reportedly been months in the making. The strike was conducted by US Cyber Command in coordination with Central Command, which is in charge of US military activity in the Middle East.*
> *A week before the attack, John Bolton, the hawkish presidential adviser and arguably the major cheerleader in the feud with Iran, revealed that the US is ramping up offensive cyber operations against its adversaries. The list included the usual suspects of Russia, Iran, China and North Korea.*
According to reports the cyber attack crippled Irans military command and control systems, although Iran has yet to confirm or deny whether this is the case. The White House has warned however of possible cyber-attacks in retaliation.
Trump called off a planned military strike against Iranian targets on Friday, as it could have resulted in 150 casualties. Instead, the US president threatened Tehran with more crippling sanctions, saying it was not about oil, but preventing the country from developing nuclear weapons.
Top Washington officials say a military strike is still on the table, but they are in favour of talks or a deal if Tehran behaves the way the US wants. That’s right, ‘if they behave the way the US wants’.
Just remember, Iran was always in the spotlights for the taking, it was just a matter of when and how!

**Luis de Benito destroys the Mainstream narrative of events surrounding COVID-19 live on Spanish MSN.**
The doctor accused the press of fabricating the data to manipulate people and that there is a lockdown in September. “Exactly what is the situation, is it worrying?” the presenter Mamen Asencio asked him .
Luis de Benito answered:
> “Well no, I don’t know which hospitals you ask.It is true that a rebound is being noticed in the number of admitted, but last week there was no one at the El Escorial hospital, yesterday there were three and we have about 120 beds.In other words, it doesn’t seem like a saturation percentage to me, ”
He also asked thee rational question which we all should be asking:
> “If so many people are getting infected, what is the need for so much vaccine?”
Interviewer Mamen Asencio was left visibly perplexed by the whole interview.

In a compelling interview with France 24, Vandana Shiva, environmental activist and anti-globalization author, reveals the nefarious influence multinational corporations like Monsanto have on agriculture. Rather than helping farmers to grow their land, the corporation’s chemicals and patented genetically engineered (GE) seeds force farmers to become dependent on them.
According to Shiva, when villages in India are able to save seeds and engage in organic agriculture, the wealth is maintained in the village instead of by corporations, and the local economy jumps tenfold. She also calls out Microsoft founder Bill Gates’ “charitable endeavours,” which she compares to the piracy of Christopher Columbus.
Shiva’s analogy paints Gates as the Christopher Columbus of modern times, with a mission to impose genetically modified organisms (GMOS) on small farmers around the world. “When Bill Gates pours money into Africa for feeding the poor in Africa and preventing famine, he’s pushing the failed Green Revolution, he’s pushing chemicals, pushing GMOs,” Shiva said.

> *Right now our education system is doing more to indoctrinate our children than to educate them. In fact, that has been the case for quite some time.*
> *Our young minds are being told to accept authority as truth instead of truth as authority, and teachers talk at the students instead of with them.*
Teachers have become repeaters of information. They are merely regurgitating everything they once learned from their own teachers and perpetuating the recycling of information; information that has managed to evade scrutiny for generations. Children are no longer the masters of their own learning, and instead, their minds are being treated as storage containers.

The factory model of education, with its focus on academic and economic elitism, is churning out obedient workers for the system, encouraged to conform every step of the way. We are not being treated as organic, creative, investigative human beings, but instead as parts of the machine.
The education system is filtering out the inquisitive nature of our being, with the ultimate goal being to prevent dissent against the system. The system doesn’t want thinkers. It doesn’t want people to question its methods. It wants a population that can be easily manipulated and controlled so as to relinquish all its power to the elite.

There are those who say that critical thinking skills cannot be taught in schools. Socrates would likely scoff at that notion, were he still alive today. It was Socrates who said,
> ### *"I cannot teach anybody anything; I can only make them think."*
