Welcome to Colombia
I drove to Casanare https://www.casanare.gov.co and Meta https://www.meta.gov.co/web/content/nuestro-departamento, two departments that are part of the Llanos https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Llanos_(South_America). This region is known as the Cowboy Land of Colombia where you find Colombian wildlife. It limits with Venezuela to the east. Its culture focuses on the raising of cattle, that's why its music carries with a wide tradition of harp and cowboy life. In this area you will find unique tourist attractions that are nowhere else in the world, as Caño Cristales, also known as the Rainbow River, habitat of pink dolphins; the Bio-park Los Ocarros, and the Natural National Park El Tuparro. Because of its rugged air, it is largely undiscovered by tourists and is thus one of my favorite places to visit. We visited the natural reserve El Encanto de Guanapalo https://elencantodeguanapalo.com with its Hato Matepalma. We then arrived to Lagos de Manegua https://www.lagosdemenegua.com/es and then to the the Finca Hotel Mururito Reserva Natural https://www.fincahotel-llanos.com/, which is absolutely spectacular!

For example, 30 minutes from Mocoa (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mocoa), the capital of Putumayo, is the El Escondite Natural Reserve (https://www.facebook.com/elescondite.reservanatural/) with a protected area of 124 hectares and more than 270 identified bird species. It also offers several trails for hiking, and single, double and group accommodation in a pleasant rural accommodation in Putumayo. Another wonderful place is the Fin del Mundo Waterfall, 11 minutes from Mocoa, a perfect place for hiking and birding in Putumayo. The tour lasts about an hour and a half and you can see a great variety of birds. Putumayo is an ideal place to meet if you like bird watching. And if you come, you have to stay at Posada Dantayaco, 15 minutes from Mocoa. With 6 different types of accommodations and cultural activities in the region, it is the best hotel in Mocoa. Hey there! When the Spanish began to conquer the land in 1499, they fight and killed many inhabitants of the region, so many indigenous communities became extinct. Several indigenous communities in Colombia have eventually become westernized and others have not yet had contact with the western world. This happens due the places where they are located, which were inaccessible to the Spanish and even today are difficult to access. Thanks to this diversity of indigenous communities and their locations, in Colombia there are many languages and dialects. The ethnic diversity in Colombia is also due to the mixture of the indigenous race, the African American race that arrived in Colombia during the time of the conquest and the Spanish race. This is why today many of the inhabitants of Colombia are considered "mestizos", which means a mixture of races.
