A fan game from some years back that has a 2.5D style! Also, this fan game is based on... Sonic '06. Didn't see that coming, huh? I wonder how this didn't become more well-known though, I haven't seen many fan games like this. The tutorial is basic, you can skip that if you want... but the visuals in Wave Ocean impressed me! And yes, the gameplay is similar to that of '06, there's even mach speed sections! But you also have a regular boost meter, so it ends up being an interesting combination of gameplay. This is probably one of the best-looking 2D fan games based on Sonic '06 that I've played. Seems really promising, I wonder what happened to development? I would've liked to see all the other zones from '06 recreated in this 2.5D style! SegaSonic the Hedgehog is another fan game from awhile ago. But that doesn't mean you should pass this one by! What can I say? Some Sonic fans prove to be quite talented, as even today, this demo can be enjoyed. Though it only has about 5 levels, SegaSonic still kept me interested in other ways, with some fairly good physics, decent cutscenes, a boss fight... even a hub zone! Always nice to have. But this fan game comes with another surprise: you can skip levels by using the "+" button, which gives you some extra content as well. Though I've never played the original SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog (an obscure Sonic game that I'll probably take a look at soon), I still liked this fan game with the same name, made by Chrscool8. Also, I think if it was ever continued, it could become something epic. Here's a short but interesting remake of Sonic Generations! You can play as both Modern and Classic Sonic and they control just about the same as the original game. As for the presentation, this fan game goes for a more traditional 2D approach. Sonic Generations 2D is an enjoyable experience that ended a bit soon, but still worth a play or two I'd say! Note: After I finished this recording I found out that there was another demo of this game from 2013 (this demo is from 2014). Strangely enough, that 2013 demo, despite being the earlier version, has a lot more stages. (Boy, wonder what the story is with that one?) It's time again for some fan game madness, with the Sonic Amateur Games Expo! This event I've been looking forward to for awhile. Though, I wasn't sure when the trailer for SAGE '21 would be out, so it caught me by surprise haha. But you know I had to share my reaction, seeing all these great games for the first time!
