Nature Park Lastovsko Otočje
The Lastovo Islands Nature Park comprises 46 islands, islets, rocks and reefs (the largest of which are Lastovo and Sušac), covering a total surface area of 53 km2 and 143 km2 of sea surface. It is bounded by the lighthouses of Sušac, Tajan, Glavat and Struga.
Another factor contributing to the uniqueness of the Lastovo islands is the rich cultural and historic heritage: countless stone churches, picturesque fumari and the traditional Lastovo Poklad. We must not forget the local population, which proves that the co-existence of nature and man is possible with a heightened awareness of the ecology.

There are several supposed etymologies of the name "Papuk", it's almost certainly not of Croatian origin. One is that it comes by assimilation from earlier "Bapuk", where "Ba" is the name of the Celtic tribe that inhabited the region, and "Puk" comes from the Indo-European root *peiH, meaning "big". However, from the historical sources, it's visible that Papuk was originally a hydronym.[4] Based on that, it's been suggested that the name comes from the repetitive of the Indo-European root *bhogj (to flow), *bhebhogj, so that it means "that which flows and flows". However, there are several problems with that etymology. First, it's visible by hydronyms such as "Bosut" and "Bosna" that Indo-European *bh gave *b in the local language. Second, *bhebhogj would actually mean "flow and flow" and not "that which flows and flows", so the endings don't match. So, it's been suggested that the name is of Pre-Indo-European origin.

Koručula Island - Vaja Beach
Vaja Beach near village of Racisce – a small beach with white pebbles and azure sea water. It is a picturesque and romantic place, isolated and rarely visited. It is located about 1km north of Racisce. One can reach it by tarmac road that leads from the far end of the Racisce harbour.
Walking up the hill and taking the path down the cliff to the beach is the way to come to this beauty spot, where in hot summer day one can find a shade from a couple of trees branched around old Dalmatian house. Note: Access to Vaja beach is via a challenging climb down a steep slope, so wear appropriate shoes.
