Paragon Warsuits - Weapon Switching, Unboxing and Build Review
Paragon Warsuits are the new unit models for the Adepta Sororitas (Sisters of Battle). They come with a choice of three main guns you can fairly easily swap out. The melee weapons not so much, there isn't really anywhere you could put the magnets. The carapace weapons don't really need a magnet but you could pop one in easy enough.
You do get a fair amount of plastic for your money, the box is packed with a sprue for each model. The models themselves are nicely detailed and easy enough to put together. Posing is a bit limited, what with the piping from the sword/mace arm limiting that side and the same for the gun weapon arm, but if you wanted to add a second set to the unit (or run two three woman squads) but you dont want them to look identical then you could swap the torsos and leg combinations around or swap arms (dont forget to swap the sisters arms too). The lack of pose-ability really the only downside to the kit overall. Well maybe the inability to magnetise the melee weapon too...
Yes he has no head, it's on it's own paint holder.
Sgt Jovan is this years store anniversary for this year and I picked one up from my local store.
What I've dont is to build him up to the point where I can paint him, but he's not glued onto his base, he's been glued onto a cork for easy painting. It's a simple process but I thought it would be worth going into here. Basically you take a cork (either used or from a supply of corks for the home brew market) and stick a paper clip into holes drilled into the cork and the model. You don't need to go deep, just enough to hold. You do need to glue it in tho, otherwise it just spins. To break it off you'll need to hold the wire with pliers and twist the model gentley until the glue breaks. if you try and hold it by the cork then the glue usually breaks in the cork first.
You can also use washers instead of coins if your country doesnt have suitable coins.
Try to get something that sticks to a magnet tho, that can be handy.

It's a nice model, bit overpriced at £25 but if you're inclined to collecting then you'll probably get it if you havent already.
Easy to put together - even if it's not easy-to-build.
As for kitbashing, there's limited scope for it, you can't really change the arms. Well, you could clip the arm he's leaning on his knee off and replace it i suppose, but it'd be a tricky mod.

Who says Power Swords have to be Electric?
Not Vulkan that's for sure.
So today we tackle the problem using fire, the traditional tool of the Salamander!
It's an easy technique, just glaze on thin paints from white to yellow to orange to red to brown to black, painting closer and closer to the edge as you go. This sword only took about 15 minutes and that's with me trying to film as well.

Part I of a series on the Tau Empire's biggest battlesuit, the KX139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour. This one is the unboxing.
The T'au KX139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour is larger than any other current class of T'au Battlesuit. It is intended to meet a threat that the T'au Empire has not yet prepared for; the defence of worlds within their growing domain from the counter-expansion forces of other starfaring species like Mankind. Lacking the manoeuvrability of other Battlesuits, the KX139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour was designed for static defence; carrying massively destructive, long range weapons.
This is just the unboxing video, I'm planning on doing build videos for the full kit, probably piece by piece so there will be videos on the body, the top guns and the arm guns, all separate.
You can buy this in pieces to spread the cost, you only save £3 by buying it in one go, £270 to buy it outright and £273 if you buy the bits separately.
I got the full package, not for the savings but for the convienience, I was going to Warhammer World on the way to a family holiday in Norfolk.
The kit consists of:
• The Body, which retails at £142
• The Pulse Ordnance Multi-Driver which retails at £65
• Two Tri-Axis Ion Canons retailing at £33 each
It's a lovely kit, and I'm really looking forward to building it.

Creating some kitbashed counts as Vespid using the basic fire warrior box and some third party bits.
All we are really doing is replacing the normal little back pack and adding the wings, but we have to use a bit of green stuff to full some gaps and get it sitting pretty.
The wings come from puppetswar.eu and can be found here:
https://puppetswar.eu/rotor-wing-packs.html
They cost 8 euros for 5 wings so you need three sets to build the 12 vespids...

Alternate intro: Who let the War Dogs out?
The new chaos knights are here! The only way to get them right now is in this army box, so what do you get in the box?
One Knight Abominant (the big bot) and 2 of the new Wardog kits that can be made in one of three types.
The Abominant also comes with the sprue needed to make the other Chaos Knight types.
Coming soon: how to magneitze the Knight Abominant...

With the new Chaos Knight Army Box that has the new Knight Abominant I thought I'd share just how easy it is to magnetize all the Big Knights, Chaos and Imperial.
All you need is 8mm round by 2mm thick magnets, one for the shoulder joint and 2x for every weapon you want to magnetize.
Oh and you'll need something to remove the piece from the shoulder, the Tamiya Saw is the best I've found.

One of the key driving factors for starting airbrushing miniatures is so you are able to prime minis in any weather and saving the cost of rattle cans.
Certainly it was the main reason I got my first airbrush. Sure, being able to base coat easy is good, but being able to prime a batch of minis when it's pissing it down outside (or summer as we like to call it here) is the best.
My primer of choice is Vallejo Surface Primer, it's the only one i've used through the airbrush. I'm sure the other brands are fine, but I've only used Vallejo so it's the only one I can recommend..
I use black just so I can hide mistakes and missed bits easier.
All you need to do to use it is to thin it down at least 2 parts primer to 1 part paint. You might want to go thinner 1:1 if you're running a smaller needle. I'd forgotten I'd had to replace the needle/nozzle on Ol' Goldie cos I'd cack-handdedly snapped the previous nozzle during cleaning and the new one was smaller so I should have thinned it down more, but it still works ok.
The only trick to priming is to keep the airbrush moving with the air on, then feather the paint on and off so it slowly covers the model. Don't blast it out and don't stop moving the airbrush.

In this video I respond to the Speed Paint an Ork Boy in 5 Minutes by making Lava Bases instead.
This is an easy technique but i'll admit it takes a bit longer than just gluing things to the base but I think the final effect is better.
Also I demand recognition for not using "all your base are belong to us".
My method for painting lava is similar to my painting molten metal video so check that out. https://youtu.be/xd8Qlmi88AQ
Basically just start bright yellow then add reds and oranges until its too red, then go back to yellows and maybe touches of white until you're happy.

The new Heavy Intercessor kit from Games Workshop for Warhammer 40k.
Two bad things about this kit is you can't equip the sergeant with anything but the heavy bolt rifle if you want to do the standard "weapon in one hand while gersturing with the other", but I wanted to do the Executor Bolt Rifle which doesnt have that option.
Secondly, these guys come in a squad of five, but the upgrade sprues only come with three gravis shoulder pads per sprue, which means you need two sprues to upgrade one squad.
Nice kit otherwise.
