[241] The Colder War Part II and Auerback on Europe
Exchanges and markets have grown increasingly more electronic in recent years. With the escalation of high-frequency trading – where trades are executed in nano-seconds – the threat of glitches to the automated software that executes these trades has become more common. This week, the Securities and Exchange Commission unanimously approved new rules intended to protect big exchanges and investors from technological glitches that can throw markets into total disarray. Erin weighs in.
Then, Erin sits down with Marshall Auerback – director of institutional partnerships at The Institute for New Economic Thinking. Marshall tells us what impact an increase in labor participation rates could have on the US economy and gives us his take on the political and institutional constraints in Europe.
After the break, Erin is joined Marin Katusa – chief energy investment strategist at Casey Research and author of "The Colder War: How the Global Energy Trade Slipped from America's Grasp." Marin tells us if fracking and liquefied natural gas will lead to energy independence for the US and gives us his take on the alleged shortage of water.
And in The Big Deal, Erin and Edward Harrison are discussing oil. Take a look!

Today’s show is focused on Bitcoin and the world of cryptocurrency. No one owns the Bitcoin network except Bitcoin users around the world, making it a quintessential peer-to-peer technology innovation. Though Bitcoin has gained increasing acceptance as a payment platform, the currency value has seen a thunderous move up followed by a massive collapse. Is bitcoin a bubble? Does it have the ability to change the world? Take a look at what our panel of guests, including Max Keiser, John McDonnell, and Reggie Middleton, had to say about the future of Bitcoin.
