Gold Creek Reservoir is a man-made water storage facility located in the northwestern suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The reservoir was built in 1883 to provide a reliable source of drinking water for the growing population of Brisbane. The construction of the reservoir required the clearing of a large area of forest, and it involved the building of a dam across the creek that feeds the reservoir. The reservoir is named after Gold Creek, a small watercourse that flows into the reservoir. Gold Creek is believed to have received its name during the gold rush era of the mid-1800s, when gold was discovered in the nearby hills. The creek was named for the small amounts of gold that were found in its gravels.
